Well, this makes things very interesting.
As President Trump considers whether or not to fire Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, it turns out Rosenstein may have just delivered a valuable bit of information to the President.
It turns out that Robert Mueller isn’t investigating Donald Trump as part of his Russia probe. Bloomberg reports:
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told President Donald Trump last week that he isn’t a target of any part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Rosenstein, who brought up the Mueller probe himself, offered the assurance during a meeting with Trump at the White House last Thursday, a development that helped tamp down the president’s desire to remove Rosenstein or Mueller, the people said.
After the meeting, Trump told some of his closest advisers that it’s not the right time to remove either man since he’s not a target of the probe. One person said Trump doesn’t want to take any action that would drag out the investigation.

This is a very interesting development. If Trump isn’t a target of the Mueller probe, why was his personal lawyer’s office just raided last week? Why are Trump’s personal finances being looked into?
And here’s the big question: If Mueller isn’t investigating Trump, what the hell is the point of the whole investigation?
If it’s true that Trump isn’t being targeted, that means his presidency isn’t in danger. And that means a lot of Democrats aren’t going to be happy.
But what if Rosenstein was only saying Trump wasn’t a target to save his own hide?
Time will tell. We’ll have to wait until Mueller actually ends his probe to know all the answers.
