Republican Nancy Mace Caught Delivering Different Vaccine Messages To CNN, Fox News

Republican Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) received a fair bit of criticism after video clips show her delivering different – some would say entirely different – messages about vaccines during two different appearances on Fox News and CNN on the same day.

In the video that went viral over the weekend, Mace appears to extoll the virtues of natural immunity over the vaccine in an appearance on Fox News.

“In some studies that I have read, natural immunity gives you 27 times more protection against future COVID infection than a vaccination,” Mace stated.

“So we need to take all of the science into account and not selectively choosing what science to follow when we are making policy decisions.”

Over on CNN on the same day she had a seemingly contradictory message.

“I have been a proponent of vaccinations and wearing masks when we need to,” Mace said.

“We had the Delta variant raging in South Carolina, I wrote an Op-Ed to my community and I work with our state department of health, I have run ads encouraging my district to go and get vaccinated.”

To be fair, one can be a proponent of both natural immunity being preferable to vaccines and vaccination – not mandated – for those who do not have that immunity.

Mace defended her dueling appearances by making a similar point.

“Supporting vaccinations and supporting those who have natural immunity are not mutually exclusive. Nor are they contradictory,” she tweeted. “We can’t pick and choose what science fits our politics.”

Still, the spliced video clips do appear to show Nancy Mace knows exactly what audience she’s playing to with her vaccine messaging.

Feud With Marjorie Taylor Greene

In October, Mace was one of nine Republicans who joined Democrats in voting to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot.

At the time, she defended her vote by noting that with Republicans expected to make major gains in the House and Senate in 2022, subpoena power for committees they control could be critical.

“I want the power to subpoena,” she told reporters.

Mace curiously inserted herself recently into an ongoing feud between Representatives Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), creating her own feud with Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Boebert made an ill-advised terrorist-related joke about Omar for which she later apologized. While Democrats who find their own members under fire always rally, Mace decided instead to take a jab at the Colorado lawmaker.

Mace denounced Boebert’s joke as an example of “racist tropes and remarks” which can be seen on both sides of the aisle.

Greene responded by calling Mace “trash” and labeled her a “RINO” who is “not conservative” but rather “pro-abort.”

In response, Mace’s Twitter feed seems to have been possessed by an AOC intern, littered with emojis that would make your head spin.

In another tweet, Mace used a peanut emoji to suggest Greene was nuts, insinuating that she believes 9/11 was a hoax.

Greene has expressed remorse for past comments about 9/11.

“I want to tell you 9/11 absolutely happened,” she said. “I do not believe that it’s fake.”

Greene later reiterated her stance that Mace is pro-abortion and added the hashtag #TwoFacedMace.

The Democrat Party is on the ropes heading into the midterms. Mace and Greene would be wise to focus their efforts on political opponents rather than those within their own party.
