Report: White House Officials Briefing Media On How To ‘Reshape’ Negative Coverage Of The Biden Administration

A new report reveals that the White House, upset over media reports on the economy and supply chain issues, is trying to "reshape coverage in its favor."

CNN media correspondent Oliver Darcy revealed in a newsletter that the Biden White House, upset over media coverage on the economy and supply chain issues, is trying to “reshape coverage in its favor.”

Sure, any political office might want to spin negatives into positives.

But Darcy states that the administration is “quietly” trying to “reshape economic coverage” by sending Senior White House and admin officials to ‘brief’ major newsrooms.

“The officials have been discussing with newsrooms trends pertaining to job creation, economic growth, supply chains, and more,” the CNN flak writes.

“The basic argument that has been made: That the country’s economy is in much better shape than it was last year,” adds Darcy.

Darcy celebrated the news that – to his surprise only – the meetings have been “productive” and he seemed genuinely excited to declare that reporters were “getting to talk with the officials.”

Biden Admin ‘Briefing’ News Rooms

Note that the CNN ‘media correspondent’ took no issue with the White House traveling to newsrooms to shape their coverage. From his tone, quite the opposite.

The Daily Mail cited several examples of the meetings between Biden White House officials and the media paying dividends.

One such example involved Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank, who last week wrote a column arguing that “the media treats Biden as badly as — or worse than — Trump.”

Milbank suggested his media colleagues had, by pointing out Biden’s many failures, been “serving as accessories to the murder of democracy.”

Too Mean To Biden?

The Daily Mail reports the White House officials’ attempts to reshape media coverage is a result of “concern that [President] Biden was not being treated fairly.”

The same media that fawns over Biden’s ice cream choices? The guys who pushed Russiagate for 5 years?

The same media who, according to a study conducted by the Media Research Center in November of 2020, provided unwavering slanted media coverage may that likely tilted the election in favor of President Biden in the first place?

That media?

Former Vice President Mike Pence recently accused the media of continuing negative coverage of the Capitol riot as a means to “demean” Trump supporters.

“I know the media wants to distract from the Biden administration’s failed agenda by focusing on one day in January,” said Pence.

“They want to use that one day to try and demean the character and intentions of 74 million Americans who believed we could be strong again and prosperous again and supported our administration in 2016 and 2020.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had an uncharacteristically snippy exchange with a reporter earlier this week.

The fact that it doesn’t happen very often is evidence she is rarely challenged by media outlets or self-described journalists.

When they do, she grows rather testy.

In October of 2016, the Center for Public Integrity reported that journalists were “shower(ing) Hillary Clinton with campaign cash” and “more than 96 percent” of it had “benefited Clinton.”

A 2019 Gallup poll showed 42 percent of respondents believe the national media to be “too liberal” with just 13 percent saying it is “too conservative.”
