Why Is President Biden Using A Fake White House Set?

Stephen Miller, a former senior policy adviser to Donald Trump, believes President Biden is using a fake White House set for certain events because it allows him to read from a teleprompter more easily.

President Biden has been using a fake White House set for certain events, like his recent promotion of COVID booster shots.

The President has been roundly mocked for using the fake set, with social media users posting images of wide shots that show the faux-White House set.

The set features windows that appear to be projected images of the Rose Garden – in full bloom in October – to lend authenticity.

Why The Fake White House Set?

Fox News and other outlets confirm that there is indeed a White House set outside of the White House. The set is actually located in the Executive Office Building, which is used for Executive Branch staffers.

According to Fox: “The video set, which was constructed across from the White House in the South Court Auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, is used by Biden for video conferences and events broadcast online.”

As for the usage of the fake White House, “The set, which includes a small seating area for members of the press and others in attendance for events, also plays host to virtual meetings for Biden and other members of his administration.”

Further, Biden isn’t the only person in his administration to use the phony White House: “In addition to Biden, Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen have been photographed using the set alongside the president for events there.”

The question is, why?

Incredibly, PolitiFact did a fact-check that said the fake White House set wasn’t created solely for Biden’s booster shot event – it was used before that took place.

But nowhere in the PolitiFact article will one find an explanation for why the set exists.

Fortunately, Newsweek did some digging and gives an explanation for the set.

It’s bigger, and has room for journalists: “Martha Kumar, director of the White House Transition Project explained that this room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building is being used more regularly due to it being more accessible.”

Another Washington insider tells Newsweek that it’s entirely about “optics.”

Former White House events director Josh King “explained that the use of the new area is down to “PoliOptics.”

“Every week in Washington has an element of theater and stagecraft, one side or another working to take full advantage of visual storytelling,” King told the newspaper.”

Newsweek is waiting for an official response from the White House.

Still, conservatives see something odd about the whole situation.

Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec responded to the images by describing them simply as the “Truman Show Presidency,” a reference to the Jim Carrey movie in which the main character lives his entire life on a massive set with actors.

Media Doesn’t Seem All That Curious

There hasn’t been much media coverage of the fake White House set aside from a Fox News article, Newsweek, and buzz from conservatives on social media.

So the bottom line – yes, the Biden administration has a fake White House set. No, they didn’t create it just for Biden’s booster event.

But why, though? Simply to fit more journalists in a room? The Oval Office in the actual White House has been host to countless media events.

Just last year, multiple mainstream outlets fact-checked a social media hoax that accused then-President Trump of filming a video in front of a green screen.

The Washington Post, Forbes, and Newsweek all fact-checked the rumor and ultimately declared he had not used a green screen.

But the reality is, they still took the time to cover it.

Why won’t they cover Biden with the same level of scrutiny?
