Report: Warren Interested In Being Biden’s Treasury Secretary

Warren Biden

Politico reported Thursday that three unnamed Democratic officials say Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has expressed interest in serving as Treasury secretary in a Joe Biden administration should the former vice president defeat President Donald Trump in Tuesday’s election.

“She wants it,” said two officials.

Warren As Treasury Secretary Would Excite Democratic Progressives

According to Politico, Warren plans to pitch herself for the top Treasury role if Biden becomes president.

Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard, former Treasury Department official Sarah Bloom Raskin, and Roger Ferguson, former Federal Reserve vice chairman and current TIAA CEO, have been reported as top candidates for the post.

Kristen Orthman, Warren’s spokesperson, said the senator was merely focused on the election.

“It’s 5 days out, we’re focused on the election and encourage everyone else to be as well,” Orthman said. Massachusetts’ Warren is scheduled to campaign with Biden in New Hampshire this weekend.

A Warren appointment could satisfy Democratic Party progressives, but might not sit well with moderates.

Regardless of who wins the election, the Treasury Department’s actions could play an important role in improving the American economy after the damage done by COVID-19 pandemic.

Warren Is Not The Only Far-Left Democrat Seeking A Spot In A Biden Administration

There have also been reports the Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders would like to be Labor Secretary under a President Biden.

Politico reported October 20th, “Sen. Bernie Sanders is hoping to be a part of Joe Biden’s potential administration and has expressed a particular interest in becoming Labor secretary, two people familiar with the conversations tell POLITICO.”

“I can confirm he’s trying to figure out how to land that role or something like it,” a confidant close to Sanders said.

“He, personally, does have an interest in it,” he or she added.

A Joe Biden administration could shape up to be a far-left socialist’s dream.
