Report Shows U.S. Government Lab Thought Wuhan Lab Leak Was Plausible Back In May 2020

Sources familiar with a classified report say the U.S. government national laboratory concluded that the Wuhan lab leak hypothesis was "plausible and deserves further investigation."

Sources familiar with a classified report inform the Wall Street Journal that a U.S. government national laboratory concluded that the Wuhan lab leak hypothesis was “plausible and deserves further investigation.”

A study from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory was prepared in May of 2020 and referred to by the State Department as they conducted an inquiry into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“One person who read the document … said it made a strong case for further inquiry into the possibility the virus seeped out of the lab,” the Journal writes.

“The study was important because it came from a respected national laboratory” the report adds, citing a former official involved in the State Department inquiry.

It was also notable because it “differed from the dominant view in spring 2020 that the virus almost certainly was first transmitted to humans via an infected animal.”

Wuhan Lab Leak Was ‘Plausible’

While the Wuhan lab leak is fast becoming a theory worth revisiting, the report continues to note that there are two theories at play, with the other involving U.S. intelligence reviewing whether the coronavirus came from human contact.

Both theories remain possible at this time.

It is also worth noting, however, that social media and the mainstream press censored the idea that the pandemic could have been the result of a lab mishap, and anyone daring to link Wuhan or China to the equation was branded a racist.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, in an op-ed for the Daily Wire, slammed “an unelected collection of Big Tech leaders” who “shut down speculation about the deadliest pandemic in a century.”

Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield claims he was on the receiving end of death threats from fellow scientists after he voiced support for the theory that the coronavirus leaked from a Wuhan lab.

“I was threatened and ostracized because I proposed another hypothesis,” Redfield explained. “I expected it from politicians. I didn’t expect it from science.”

Last month, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee said there is “significant circumstantial evidence” that the COVID-19 outbreak emanated from a Wuhan Institute of Virology leak.

The New York Times also reported on the Biden administration’s call for further investigation into the virus’ origins, claiming it shows “the administration takes seriously the possibility that the virus was accidentally leaked from a lab.”

Rep. Scalise Calls On Fauci To Testify

Reports on the possibility that COVID-19 was the result of a Wuhan lab leak are increasing scrutiny on Doctor Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who has been accused of downplaying the theory.

Fauci stated that “most people hold by” the belief that the virus came from a bat in the Wuhan market rather than a lab.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson blasted officials for helping to ‘cover up’ the lab leak theory.

“The lab leak theory, it turns out, was never crazy,” he insisted. “It was always likely true.”

Carlson went so far as to suggest Fauci lied to Congress about the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic and that he ‘deserves’ to be under criminal investigation.

Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) is now calling on Fauci to testify.

“Never forget,” he tweeted. “Fauci stayed silent while the media called Republicans conspiracy theorists for saying COVID possibly leaked from the Wuhan lab even though he knew he was privately emailing about that very possibility.”

Scalise added, “He must testify.”

Scalise joined House Oversight Committee Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) in a letter to top Democrats demanding Fauci testify after his emails showed “evidence” that COVID-19 possibly “leaked from a U.S. taxpayer-funded laboratory.”

“The Chinese government covered this up,” Carlson has accused. “Here’s the worst and most shocking part if you’re an American: Some within the U.S. government helped them cover it up.”

The White House has defended Fauci amidst the controversy.

“I’m very confident in Dr. Fauci,” President Biden said last week.
