In what seems to be an indication that the immigration crisis in America is a bipartisan issue, Democrat Governor of Colorado Jared Polis is reportedly planning to send illegal aliens to major cities, including New York and Chicago.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced during a radio appearance Tuesday that he had been made aware of Polis’ intentions.

“We were notified yesterday that the governor of Colorado is now stating that they are going to be sending migrants to places like New York and Chicago,” he said.

Adams complained that the move is “unfair” because “local governments” are being forced to “take on this national obligation.”

Odd how it hasn’t been ‘unfair’ for border states to bear the burden for decades, but once they start entering Democrat-led cities, it’s a crisis again.

Politico reported the news and seemed perplexed that Polis would take such action because “Colorado is not a border state and both leaders are Democrats.”

Illegal Immigrants Will Be Sent From Colorado to New York

An aide of Adams confirmed the news, telling Politico they were informed of the Colorado governor’s plans on Monday, though little in the way of details have been revealed.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, also a Democrat, declared a state of emergency last month due to the influx of illegal immigrants in the city.

“Let me be frank: This influx of migrants, the unanticipated nature of their arrival and our current space and staffing challenges have put an immense strain on city recourses to the level where they’re on the verge of reaching a breaking point at this time,” Hancock said.

Imagine that!

Hancock cited concern over a lack of resources in dealing with illegal immigrants.

While he has previously stated Denver is not formally declared a sanctuary city, Hancock says, “What we are is a very welcoming and inclusive city.”

Polis, however, will now be shipping those that were once welcomed in Colorado off to the Big Apple and the Windy City.

NYC, Denver at a ‘Breaking Point’

Adams has long been critical of Republicans from border states shipping illegal immigrants to his sanctuary city. In September he declared NYC to already be “nearing its breaking point.”

But now, it’s coming from a Democrat governor as well. And what better way to combat your own potential ‘breaking point’ than to send illegal immigrants to a city that proudly declares itself to be a sanctuary?

Even with the city on the brink, Adams said they would continue to welcome the illegal aliens as was required by their “right to shelter” policies.

“Every asylum seeker that comes to New York will have shelter. By law, we’re required, and we’re going to do that,” Adams said.

“We’re not stopping at the bare minimum of right to shelter,” he added. “We’re going beyond that to make sure people have a right to a decent life here in our city.”

But the tune has changed now that Polis is taking action.

“No city should have to make a decision if they’re going to provide for their citizens — particularly coming out of Covid — or if they’re going to deal with an onslaught of migrants and asylum seekers,” Adams now says.

Adams said Tuesday roughly 30,000 “asylum seekers” have arrived in New York City since the Spring. Most have come from Texas.

Colorado sending illegal immigrants will make the number swell even higher.
