A recent report indicates the Biden administration is taking steps to end Trump-era levels of transparency on government-wide investigations into UFOs.
The Pentagon announced, rather discreetly before the Thanksgiving holiday, the creation of the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG).
According to the Department of Defense, the AOIMSG will synchronize efforts “to detect, identify and attribute objects of interest” and to “assess and mitigate any associated threats to safety of flight and national security.”
According to U.S. News & World Report, American officials and analysts globally are “raising alarm” about the military group saying it “wants to end a brief spell of transparency” and “shove UFO reports back into a closet under lock and key.”
Peter Whitley, a researcher based in Japan, says the Pentagon and the Biden administration are “stifling the burgeoning demand from both the public and Congress for increased UFO transparency.”

Under former President Donald Trump, the federal government had been praised for a new level of transparency on investigations into UFOs.
In 2020, the Pentagon announced it had formed a new group, the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force.
The AOIMSG will replace that unit. Planning to create the AOIMSG began in November by the Pentagon shortly after the election and was immediately criticized.
Last summer’s UFO report raised more questions than answers and stunk of a government cover-up. The Pentagon’s new office to collect information about UFOs cannot follow this pattern of secrecy. It needs to be transparent about its findings. Our country can handle the truth. pic.twitter.com/4CZozek4A1

Last June, the government was lauded for issuing a “landmark” report on UFOs according to Reuters at the time.
The U.S. intelligence community, in conjunction with the Pentagon, “once openly dismissive of UFO sightings,” they wrote, “is poised to issue an expansive account of” UFOs.
The report left more questions than answers, however. The New York Times reported it “failed to provide explanations of 143 sightings of strange phenomena by military pilots and others over the past two decades.”
But, according to the BBC, the report shows the Pentagon “refused to rule out aliens.”
It is not too late for Congress to recognize the flaws in the Hicks Memo and initiate a serious effort to identify the source of the aircraft brazenly violating U.S. airspace and spying on THAAD missile sites, DoD bases and, carrier strike groups. https://t.co/vzZjX0LXjx

President Trump’s approach to the topic of UFO research was to remain skeptical, but open up the government and insist on transparency.
“I’m not such a believer, but some people are, so I don’t want to hurt their dreams or their fears,” he said in an interview with Dan Bongino. “It could be fears more than dreams.”

To allay those fears, Trump suggested the United States military was ready regardless.
Asked by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo flat-out if there are UFOs out there, Trump pivoted to a response reinforcing the might of the armed forces.
“I will tell you this: We have now created a military the likes of which we have never had before,” he said. “Russia, China, they’re all envious of what we had. All built in the USA.”
Former President Barack Obama said the existence of UFOs wouldn’t change his politics.
“It wouldn’t change my politics at all, right, because my entire politics is premised on the fact that we are these tiny organisms on this little speck floating in the middle of space,” he said.

President Biden, when asked about the existence of UFOs, deferred to Obama.
“President Obama says there is footage and records of objects in the sky — these unidentified aerial phenomena — and he says we don’t know exactly what they are,” a reporter said. “What do you think?”
Biden replied, “I would ask him again.”

To be fair, there are some days Biden wouldn’t even know how to spell U-F-O.
