Rep. Jim Jordan: Immigration Moratorium ‘Common Sense’ In A Pandemic

Representative Jim Jordan said that President Donald Trump’s moratorium on immigration during the coronavirus pandemic is simply “common sense.”

On Monday night, President Trump issued a temporary moratorium on all immigration to the United States during the coronavirus pandemic.

“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States,” the President tweeted.

This didn’t go down well with Democrats and leftists as to be expected. Representative Eric Swalwell, a failed Democratic presidential candidate, screeched that the government doesn’t need “to protect America from immigrants. We need to protect her from you.”

Halt Is “Common Sense”

Speaking on Fox News, Representative Jim Jordan first reacted to the announcement, which was breaking at the time, by describing it as “common sense,” which most of Americans would probably agree with. He noted a few points, firstly, that the order is temporary.

Secondly, “at a time when Americans are being told to stay at home it kind of makes sense that we’re not going to let new people into the country, particularly at the very moment when you’re trying to restart our economy and prevent any new hot spots and new outbreaks from happening,” Jordan argued.

“So, I view this as common sense and I think most Americans are going to view it as common sense,” Jordan said, adding that, “of course, the left like Eric Swalwell, they’re going to go crazy but think about what they have proposed during this pandemic. They said they want to release illegal immigrants. They said they wanted to pay states to let criminals out of jail early. They said abortion clinics are essential businesses. And they said you can’t purchase firearms and can go to church.”

Jordan said that this was the true “radical position” for politicians to take.

“They’re going to go crazy on this, but most Americans are going to see it for what it is, which is just good common sense,” he concluded.

I agree! This is absolutely simple, common sense policies, just as President Trump’s travel bans have been. Why would you let in immigrants, who are potentially carrying the coronavirus, who can potentially cause yet another outbreak. Thank goodness we have President Trump in office who has the confidence to do something like this!
