On Monday, far-left Democratic congresswoman and “Squad” member Rashida Tlaib called for “no more policing” following the Sunday police shooting of a 20-year-old black man, Daunte Wright, in Minnesota.
“It wasn’t an accident. Policing in our country is inherently & intentionally racist,” Tlaib tweeted.

Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence. I am done with those who condone government funded murder.
No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can't be reformed.

Tlaib: ‘No More Policing, Incarceration, And Militarization’
“Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence,” she wrote. “I am done with those who condone government funded murder. No more policing, incarceration, and militarization.”
“It can’t be reformed,” she finished.
Tlaib’s tweet was shared as people gathered for a second night of protests in Brooklyn Center in response to the fatal police shooting of Wright.
The officer who shot and killed Wright has since been identified by law enforcement as Kim Potter.
Potter allegedly shot her handgun when she meant to use a Taser instead. Authorities have called it an “accidental” shooting.
After the death of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, Tlaib supported the BREATHE Act.
The bill would essentially answer the popular protest call to “defund the police.”
We must invest in a new vision of public safety.
Today, I am proud to join the calls coming out of one of the largest movements for justice that my district and our country have ever seen to say unapologetically:
I support the #BREATHEAct. https://t.co/a0zKgndf0B

Pushback On Tlaib’s Calls To End Policing
Tlaib did get some pushback on Monday for her call for “no more policing.”
Former Republican congressional candidate Kimberly Klacik wrote, “Another way to say I can afford to live in a completely safe neighborhood & I don’t care about those who can not afford to move.”

Fox News contributor and Republican pollster Frank Luntz tweeted, “This ‘no more policing’ tweet is getting bookmarked by lots of 2022 campaigns for when Rep. Tlaib claims she actually doesn’t want to abolish the police.”

Luntz would also add, “Only 15% of Americans support abolishing the police, including: “22% of Black Americans, 20% of Hispanic Americans, 27% of Democrats, 12% of independents.”
27% of Democrats supporting the abolition of police is an astonishing figure.
“Nevertheless, 56% of Americans say ‘major changes’ are needed to improve policing,” Luntz added.
