Rand Paul Says If Biden Wants More People Vaccinated, He Should Take Off His Mask And Burn It

On Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said that the messaging on vaccines from Washington has been full of “fearmongering,” and suggested President Joe Biden take off his mask and burn it on national television if he wants more Americans to get vaccinated.

Sen. Paul made his remarks during on interview with Fox News Martha MacCullum.

Paul Sounds Off

Paul said of White House coronavirus pandemic lead conductor Dr. Anthony Fauci, who he has been critical of, “Science is about proving things are happening.”

“If Dr. Fauci can prove that people who are vaccinated are spreading the disease, I will listen to him,” Paul told host Martha MacCallum. “If he can prove that people like me who have already had it are spreading the disease, I’ll listen to him.”

“But there is no evidence of that,” Paul insisted.

Paul then suggested what he believed was a good way to get more people vaccinated.

“If you want more people to get vaccinated, Joe Biden should go on national TV, take his mask off, and burn it,” Paul said. “Light a torch to it, and burn his mask and say, ‘I’ve had the vaccine, I am now safe from this plague. If you get the vaccine, you can be safe too.'”

He argued, “The burden of proof should be on the government to prove that we’re spreading it and we will listen to them, but instead it sounds sort of like fearmongering.”

Biden Still Wants Mask Mandates

Sen, Paul made his suggestion in the midst of the Biden administration continuing to urge states to re-implement mask mandates nationwide.

Paul has continuously criticized federal officials for ignoring evidence that the country is turning a corner on coronavirus while still issuing the same government guidance.

When Michigan sought to re-impose lockdowns recently via Biden administration recommendations, Paul said, “It doesn’t obey the science.”

Paul Doubles Down

“There is no scientific evidence that the lockdowns in Michigan have done anything, or in California,” the Kentucky senator said.

He continued, “In fact, the daily incidents of the disease in the last two months has been about almost one and a half times greater in California than it has been in Florida.”

“The death rate is lower in Florida,” Paul declared. “So there is no real correlation between economic lockdowns, mask mandates, or any of this.”
