Rand Paul Vows To Do ‘Everything’ He Can To Stop Biden From ‘Locking Us Up’ Over COVID

During an interview with WABC radio in New York on Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul vowed he would do “everything” he could to “prevent” another lockdown under a President Joe Biden.

Paul’s comments come in the wake of members of Biden’s coronavirus task force debating whether a national lockdown might be needed as coronavirus cases spike in some parts of the U.S.

Rand Paul Says Lockdowns Don’t Work

“Today, Biden’s talking more about a lockdown. This is absolutely why he’s going to be a terrible president if we get him,” Paul told New York AM WABC 770 radio’s “The Cats Roundtable.”

“He’s going to ruin the country,” Paul said. “Lockdowns don’t work. And in fact, all of the evidence on mandatory masks show that they don’t work either.”

Paul explained why he thought the safety procedures advised in the U.S. have been ineffective.

“There’s about 10 different countries or venues, maybe 20, that instituted mandatory masks, and everyone one of them — to a T — the infection rate, the COVID rate went up after the mask mandate,” the senator added.

The national media and the CDC have insisted on the effectiveness of masks.

Paul: ‘We Can’t Go On Like This Forever’

“Now, this is just showing that … all these mitigation strategies — washing our hands, staying six feet apart — they really don’t work, frankly,” he added.

“And the virus, as the Wall Street Journal put it, is insidious. It does going to do what it’s going to do,” he noted.

“The only thing that’s going to stop it is either enough immunity among individuals in the community or a vaccine.”

Paul then said, “I’m going to do everything I can to try to prevent Biden from locking us up and locking us down and forcing us to wear masks forever.”

“We can’t go on like this forever,” he concluded.

Biden In A Bind Over Lockdowns

If Biden pursues national lockdowns if he becomes president, he’s going to have an issue with his promise of more jobs.

If Biden was around for the first round of lockdowns, he might have noticed that a lot of people lost their jobs.

Lockdown = rapidly rising unemployment. It’s not a hard equation to figure out and the evidence is undeniable.

Yelp reports that 60% of businesses that have temporarily closed due to COVID will permanently close.

USA Today reports that as many as 36,000 eateries and small business will close.

Biden also spent the summer months of the campaign demanding a national mask mandate that he would implement as president, then walked it back when the constitutionality of such an action was challenged.

As President Trump said during a town hall in September, “They said at the Democrat convention they’re going to do a national mandate. They never did it, because they’ve checked out and they didn’t do it.”

At least one senator, Rand Paul, will try to stop it.
