Poll Shows Over Half of Republicans Believe The Election Was ‘Rigged’ And Trump ‘Rightfully Won’

A new poll indicates half of Republicans believe Trump "rightfully won" the election while an even greater percentage think it was "rigged."

A new poll indicates that half of Republicans believe President Trump “rightfully won” the election while an even greater percentage have concerns that the election was “rigged.”

The poll, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos this past week, indicates that the President’s refusal to concede is starting to transfer onto the fears of Republican voters.

“Fifty-two percent of Republicans said that Trump ‘rightfully won,’ while only 29% said that Biden had rightfully won,” Reuters reports.

Additionally, 68 percent of Republicans said they feel the election was “rigged,” and a not-all-that-insignificant percentage (one-third) of independents felt the same.

Just 16 percent of Democrats think the election was rigged.

A Good Chunk of Republican Voters Think the Election Was ‘Rigged’

It isn’t simply the President’s insistence that the 2020 election has been rigged in Biden’s favor that is affecting Republican concerns. It’s the numerous stories of voting irregularities that have surfaced in the last few weeks.

The media has downplayed the problems as insignificant and therefore unimportant, but they are there nonetheless.

Earlier today, The Political Insider reported that a memory card with 2,755 votes had been unearthed in Fayetteville County during the Georgia election audit the Secretary of State’s Office announced.

It was the second such memory card issue that changed hundreds of votes in Trump’s favor, with a third under investigation.

Are the Concerns Legitimate?

The media and Biden voters will be quick to dismiss the poll as an indication that Republicans are simply listening to and believing in President Trump’s allegations.

But shouldn’t it be a concern that one-third of Independent voters believe the election was “rigged”?

Not only that, but 55 percent of adults overall think the 2020 election was “legitimate and accurate,” which marks a 7-point decrease from 2016.

That’s right – the election Democrats and the media had everyone believing was stolen by the Russians seems more legitimate than this one.

And while the media will tell you that questioning the legitimacy of the election is un-American, it’s an important reminder that a poll from 2018 – just two years ago – shows a whopping 66 percent of Democrats believed Russia actually changed votes in favor of President Trump during the previous election cycle.

“Two out of three Democrats also claim Russia tampered with vote tallies on Election Day to help the President,” YouGov reported, “something for which there has been no credible evidence.”

There is vastly more evidence of election irregularities this year than there was of Vladimir Putin stuffing ballot boxes in 2016.
