On Tuesday, CNN host Wolf Blitzer pushed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her refusal to accept a compromise with Republicans to deliver coronavirus relief.
Pelosi accused Blitzer and others on CNN of siding with and apologizing for Republicans.
Seriously.
“What I say to you is, I don’t know why you’re always an apologist, and many of your colleagues are apologists for the Republican position,” Pelosi said on “The Situation Room.”
Watch:
Pelosi appeared frustrated that Blitzer cited Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna and former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang’s statements that Pelosi should accept the Republicans’ $1.8 trillion federal coronavirus relief deal.
“Ro Khanna, that’s nice,” Pelosi said. “That isn’t what we’re going to do. And nobody’s waiting until February.”
“I want this very much now because people need help now,” Pelosi insisted.
“But it’s no use giving them a false thing just because the president wants to put a check with his name on it in the mail.”
“Andrew Yang, he’s lovely,” the Democrat added. “Ro Khanna, he’s lovely. They are not negotiating this situation. They have no idea of the particulars.”
Pelosi condescendingly dismissed Blitzer bringing up the fact that Americans need relief now, and the House Speaker suggested Blitzer simply didn’t now what he was talking about.
“With all due respect, you really don’t know what you’re talking about,” Pelosi said dismissively to Blitzer.
“So do a service to the issue and have some level of respect for the people who have worked on these issues, written the bill, to begin with,” Pelosi added.
Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley tweeted of the tense exchange, “They are so used to not having to answer hard questions. And when they are asked they end up acting like this.”
Watch Pelosi’s remarkable behavior:
Haley is right. Pelosi and most Democrats are accustomed to going on CNN and being given softball questions.
Blitzer didn’t even ask her a hard question. Yet, anything less than complete and total fealty to Democrats is viewed by Pelosi as a shocking, major scandal.
Blitzer merely asked Pelosi why she didn’t take a deal. And she didn’t like it one bit.
The rambling that followed from Pelosi showed that she didn’t care what Blitzer and most Americans thought about her and her party’s behavior.
People like Nancy Pelosi are called political “elites” for a reason, and Tuesday on CNN, the House Speaker proved it.
