Pelosi, AOC, And Nadler Want Coronavirus Relief To Bail Out Liberal States And NYC Art Museums

As usual, they want non-virus spending in a coronavirus relief bill.

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her colleagues Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) want to add trillions to the next economic stimulus bill for non-coronavirus and non-economic recovery bailouts. The president has proposed that the money instead be spent on a jobs and infrastructure program that would put multitudes back to work who have lost their jobs due to the virus and would repair America’s broken bridges, tunnels, and highways. The Democrats would rather not.

The main part of their proposal is a bailout for Democrat states like Illinois and New York that have run up obscene deficits by spending tax dollars on loony liberal projects benefiting the elite and illegal aliens. Now the Democrat governors of those states want federal taxpayers from across the nation to get them out of their quagmire.

GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has already thrown cold water on the idea and has said that the federal government is not in the business of cleaning up the mess that states have made for themselves because of irresponsible spending and outlandish schemes.

Speaking of such schemes, after the Kennedy Center public relations debacle you’d think the Democrats would be gun shy about pushing for cash for posh cultural institutions that serve the poodle people of Manhattan. Think again. Jerry Nadler has an entire new debacle in mind.

He is advocating $4 billion for the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City (the Met). The Met has an endowment of $3.6 billion. Thus why the heck does it need money out of the pockets of hard-working everyday American taxpayers?

But Nadler is determined to make people from Iowa and Georgia pay for the Met. To argue his case, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, he wrote a letter to the House leadership on April 30th. He went on media to do the same.

Nadler: “They [the Met] are hemorrhaging revenue, and we have to help them,” Nadler told WNYC radio on Monday, “so that…we don’t come out of [this pandemic] without our theaters and museums and our libraries, which is a major factor in the economy, but also a major factor in civilization.” He fails to mention that all the theaters, museums, and libraries he and AOC want bailed out just happen to be in NYC. No public libraries in Peoria, Jerry? No community theaters in Little Rock, Ally? And anyway, who knew they were such cultural connoisseurs? Apparently lying, cheating, and spinning leaves ample time for the opera.

“I think we do have to give money to private cultural institutions, and I’m not concerned, frankly, about borrowing money by the trillions,” Nadler said.

Yes, you read that right. Nadler is “not concerned” about borrowing trillions of dollars from the future. Bankrupting future generations of Americans? Why be concerned? After all, he won’t have to deal with it.

Not to be outshone for sheer idiocy, AOC chimed in with, “We need to be able to play hardball so that working families can get the meaningful help that they need,” Ocasio-Cortez said about the leftist legislative strategy.

Funny, not a lot of working families usually attend the Met.
