Former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort Sues Robert Mueller

Paul Manafort raid

When it rains, it pours. And there’s a torrential downpour of earth-shaking news stories coming out of Washington right now.

Earlier today, President Trump took his former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, to the woodshed, accusing him of being a self-serving scam artist who brought nothing to the MAGA agenda.

If that wasn’t crazy enough, now Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign manager, is suing Special Counsel Robert Mueller!

Mueller, of course, is leading the investigation into whether or not Trump and his campaign colluded with the Russian government in the 2016 election.

Manafort was the first victim of this investigation, and he was charged with a number of finance-related crimes back in October.

As a result of those charges, and the legal process Manafort has been forced to go through, it looks like he’s seeking redress from Mueller and the U.S. government. Experts have already called Mueller’s charges against Manafort “shaky.” And now it looks like Manafort will be trying to prove as much in court.

From Breaking911:

Former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has filed a civil lawsuit against special counsel Robert Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and the United States Department of Justice, according to Reuters.

Manafort is alleging the case against him goes beyond the legal authority of special counsel Robert Mueller.

This is an interesting case. It’s worth asking if the FBI would have honed in on Manafort had there not been in ongoing special investigation into the Trump campaign.

Mueller is charged with one specific task: Find out if there was collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Anything else is outside the purview of his investigation.

What do you think? Is Manafort in the right to sue Mueller and the government? Tell us your thoughts below and share this breaking news over Facebook now!
