Did you watch the televised spectacle in self-congratulation, otherwise known as the Oscars, last night?

I sure as hell didn’t. And I’m betting that most self-respecting Americans refused to subjugate themselves to a show high on virtue-signaling and low on actual entertainment.

Lest we forget, many of the same actors, actresses, directors, and producers present last night were singing paeans to women empowerment, even though they spent the better part of the last two decades covering for pervert mega-producer Harvey Weinstein.

And, of course, the Trump hatred was rampant. Hollywood’s hate affair with the President has become tired at this point, so it didn’t come as a shock that performers took shots at the White House during their sets.

It looks like America has grown tired of the two-bit moralizing and have tuned out of the Oscars all together. Viewership for the 2018 awards was down significantly from last year. Via Variety:

Live viewership of the 90th annual Academy Awards ceremony was down significantly from the 2017 telecast, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings for ABC’s nearly four-hour telecast.

The 8 p.m.-11 p.m. portion of ABC’s telecast averaged an 18.9 household rating and 32 share in Nielsen’s metered market overnight ratings, which cover about 70% of U.S. TV households. That’s down about 16% from the 22.5/37 rating generated by the 2017 Oscars.

A 16% drop is huge. But it’s not surprising. Trump’s presidency has turned Hollywood into an outrage factory. Celebrities can’t help but attack Trump relentlessly, almost to the point of boredom.

Nobody other than a few strident leftists wants to watch liberal platitudes being preached to them for hours on end. Hence why the ratings for the Oscars tanked.

America is sending Hollywood a message: We’re tired of all the political grandstanding. Make movies, and clam up when it comes to politics.
