Oops! O’Donnell of MSNBC Now Admits to ‘Error in Judgment’ About His Anti-Trump Story

Says commentary didn't go through verification process before he aired it — this is why president is right about 'fake news'

Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC is suddenly apologizing on Wednesday for an “error of judgment” he made on the air in regard to an anti-Trump report.

Last night on MSNBC, he delivered a report noting that Russian oligarchs “co-signed loans” that President Donald Trump supposedly obtained.

As Mediaite noted about it, “It [that report] was very thinly sourced, and even as he broke the report O’Donnell himself placed an ‘if true’ [caveat] on it.”

Both O’Donnell and MSNBC were, after that, heavily criticized for airing the report — and Trump’s attorney then sent NBC Universal a letter threatening legal action against them.

On Wednesday afternoon, O’Donnell took to Twitter to say, “I was wrong to discuss it on the air” when it “didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process.”

McDonnell also said he will be addressing the matter on his MSNBC program this evening.
