Omar Was Asked About Her 9/11 Comment ‘Some People Did Something’

This past Wednesday, September 11, 2019, America remembered the tragic day where radical Muslims attacked us.

Over 3,000 citizens died on that day, and it should never be forgotten. During one of the ceremonies held in New York, Nicholas Haros Jr., who lost his mother in the attack, Frances Haros, wore a shirt that said: “Some people did something,” referring to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s infamous statement that set off anger across the country.

Haros: “‘Some people did something,’ said a freshman congresswoman from Minnesota, to support and justify the creation of CAIR, [The Council on American-Islamic Relations]. Today I’m here to respond to you exactly who did what to whom. Madam, objectively speaking, we know who and what was done. There is no uncertainty about that. Why your confusion?”

Haros, while reading his mother’s name, had words for the Congressman that were revisited on Face the Nation Sunday when the host carefully asked her did she understand what her words meant and you know what? I believe she did not.

Brennan: “The anniversary this week – the 18th – of the 9/11 attacks on our country and at a Ground Zero remembrance, well, remembrance ceremony, we’ll call it. The son of one of the victims stood up and specifically called out language that you had used in the past that he characterized as ‘not respectful,’ when referring to the 3,000 people who were killed by Al Qaeda. You said, ‘some people did something.’ And he put right there on his t-shirt. Do you understand why people found that offensive?”

Omar: “So, 9/11 was an attack on all Americans. It was an attack on all of us and I certainly could not understand the weight of the pain that the victims of the families of 9/11 must feel but I think it’s really important for us to make sure that we are not forgetting the aftermath of what happened after 9/11. Many Americans found themselves now having their civil rights stripped from them. And so, when I was speaking to the fact that as a Muslim, only was I suffering as an American who was attacked on that day, but the next day I woke up as my fellow Americans were now treating me as a suspect.”

Of course, she came under suspicion. If you don’t condemn those who are terrorists and distance yourself from them, everyone might assume you at least approve of them.

Here is some food for thought. Minnesota brags that it is the “Land of 10,000 lakes.” Perhaps there is something in the water around Minneapolis-St. Paul that has infected the minds of the voters. How else can we explain the election of this poor excuse of a human being to the U.S. House of Representatives?

What civil liberty did she lose that I didn’t? None. I have to stand for pat-downs at the airport; my calls are logged; etc. There is nothing that she has to do that I don’t have to do, nor is there anything she’s allowed to do that I am.

Call me crazy, but I think I remember George W. Bush going on TV to expressly warn against condemning all Muslims for the sins of a few. I also believe that the Muslims were not banned from the United States after 9/11 even though there was a legitimate threat of Jihadi terrorists (including the shoe bomber and a foiled plot to destroy ten planes).

I also do not remember Muslims losing the right to speech, assembly, or bear arms after 9/11. There was heightened surveillance of certain mosques, but hardly at the level of what hit the militia movement after Oklahoma City.

So what is Omar talking about?

Some Americans traumatized by fear after the worst terrorist attack in American history looked curiously at Muslims (and only ones they could tell by dress). Pretty weak beer.

To this point, I don’t think she has apologized for any part of her statement, and never condemned the terrorists as jihadists. It was merely an opportunity to lie that Muslim civil rights had been taken away.

Omar is crying; she is receiving death threats. Maybe they’re not death threats. Maybe it’s just some people saying something.
