New York Schools Now Required to Observe Moment of Silence on 9/11

A new law signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo will require New York state schools to observe a moment of silence on the anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.

The legislation is designed to keep the memory of that tragic day alive in students who were not even born when it happened, an especially important solemn remembrance in the state where a majority of innocent lives were taken.

One has to wonder just how long liberals in the far-left cesspool of New York will allow such a thing to remain in their schools before they file a complaint about it being a religious implementation or simply that their rights are being violated by ‘forcing’ students to partake.

For now, we’ll just celebrate the new law on this day.

Cuomo, who signed the law into effect immediately on Monday, explains that “9/11 was one of the single darkest periods in this state’s and this nation’s history.”

“We owe it to those we lost and to the countless heroes who ran toward danger that day and the days that followed to do everything we can to keep their memory alive.”

“Students graduating from High School as part of the Class of 2019 were just newborns during the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001, and soon enough there will be no students in the national public school system born at the time of 9/11,” State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato, who sponsored the law said.

“By mandating a brief moment of silent reflection every year, we may ensure that future generations will better understand this day and its significance in our history,” added Cuomo.

To his credit, he couldn’t be more right. Just as we must remind the younger generation of the importance of such historically tragic events in this nation such as Pearl Harbor, we must keep this memory alive.

Never forget.

Sadly, many radical Democrats in Congress have indeed forgotten. How many times have we heard them compare the Russia collusion hoax to 9/11 over the past few years?

We’ve even watched as Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), a representative whose district encompasses the lower west side of Manhattan, say he has no issue with Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) description of 9/11 being carried out by “some people [who] did something.”

Congress may want to follow New York’s lead on this one and mandate remembrance of that day.
