Obama Says Trump Is For ‘White People What O.J.’s Acquittal Was To A Lot Of Black Folks’

A former speech writer of Barack Obama’s has claimed in a new book that the ex-president compared the way white people feel about Donald Trump to the way black people felt about the acquittal of O.J. Simpson.

Obama’s O.J. Simpson Comparison

Ben Rhodes, who worked for Obama from 2009 until 2017, recalled in his new book “After the Fall” a moment of “black humor” from his ex-boss.

“Trump is for a lot of white people what O. J.’s acquittal was to a lot of black folks – you know it’s wrong, but it feels good,” Obama reportedly said, according to Daily Mail.

Simpson was infamously acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Many feel that it was obvious that he had committed the killings, and that he has gotten away with murder.

Obama’s Attacks On Trump

Over the past few weeks, various attacks on Trump that Obama launched behind the scenes have come to light.  Edward-Isaac Dovere, a staff writer at the Atlantic, claimed in his new book “Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Donald Trump” that Obama regularly trashed Trump behind the scenes. Obama is quoted in the book as allegedly calling Trump a “madman,” a “racist, sexist pig,” “that f***ing lunatic” and a “corrupt motherf***er.”

Earlier this month, reports surfaced of Obama slamming Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, describing it as an “absolute chaotic disaster.”

“What we’re fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy — that has become a stronger impulse in American life. And by the way, we’re seeing that internationally as well. It’s part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty,” Obama said, according to Yahoo News.

“It would have been bad even with the best of governments,” he added. “It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset — of ‘what’s in it for me’ and ‘to heck with everybody else’ — when that mindset is operationalized in our government.”
