Just what the world needs: the Obama family gracing our television sets even more than they already have.
The New York Times is reporting that former President Barack Obama is in negotiations with Netflix to develop a series of programming that will provide him with a “global” and “unfiltered” platform to the public.
Both he and Michelle would be paid by Netflix for providing exclusive content on the streaming service, giving the couple a massive audience to the tune of 118 million subscribers.
The plan is for the Obamas to develop shows that involve storytelling they consider uplifting and inspirational. No word on if any programs will involve stories about keeping your health plan, or having Republicans sit in the back of the bus.

The Times report indicates that Obama has no intention of using his Netflix shows to respond directly to President Trump or Republicans in general, though it would provide “an unfiltered method of communication with the public.”
And I think we both know the former narcissist-in-chief doesn’t have it in him to avoid going after Trump or trying to defend his own crumbling legacy.
Even within their own reporting, the Times points out a particular show idea being bantered about right now is one in which Obama moderates “conversations on topics that dominated his presidency,” such as Obamacare, global warming, illegal immigration, etc.
How would that NOT be a response to the current administration? How would that NOT help provide a platform for Democrats or liberal ideology in 2020?
This is very clearly not the point, but if Obama starts a Netflix show—with his massive audience—there’s a world where it could have a significant effect on the shape of Dems’ 2020 primary… (https://t.co/Fn7OybMxeE)

And for those of us who miss being lectured by the former First Lady on what we can and can’t eat while her husband was busy wolfing down cheeseburgers, there’s consideration for a show in which Michelle Obama talks nutrition.
Honestly, who wouldn’t want to see this adorable couple gracing their screens every time they try to watch House of Cards?

The Times reports that the Netflix deal is “a clear indication that the former president remains interested in the intersection of politics, technology and media.”
But he won’t use that as a means to attack Trump or conservatives. If you believe that, I have a streaming service to sell you.
