Nearly Half Of Americans In Poll Think Civil War Possible Within 10 Years

Most rational Americans would agree that one of the things our nation was founded upon was vigorous debate. We are Americans. It’s what we have done for generations, going back to the Federalist and Anti-Federalist debates.

But a new YouGov/Economist poll says that more than 40% of Americans believe that, because of the political climate, a civil war could be likely within 10 years.

The poll is an interesting gateway as to how people of different political persuasions view what’s happening in the country.

Republicans are much more likely to believe the country is more divided and that the division will only increase.

Of course, the main point about civil war is what we’re concerned about here: 43% of Americans think civil war is very or somewhat likely. That’s a huge number for such a serious question.

The New Narrative

Jan. 6, 2021 seemed to open a new door for Democrats. Because of the violence at the Capitol, and their assertion that Donald Trump instigated it, the incident gave them the opportunity to paint Republicans, and specifically Trump supporters, as violent extremists. And we have been hearing it ever since.

But now, with an election coming up in which Democrats are nervous, another opportunity presents itself to ramp up that rhetoric against Republicans, and again specifically Trump supporters.

During an appearance on Fox News Sunday night, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), stated that when it comes to Donald Trump, “Most Republicans including me, believe when to comes to Trump, there is no law.” Graham was referring to a “double standard” among certain law enforcement official have taken in dealing with Trump, versus dealing with any Democrat.

Graham continued:

“And I’ll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle, there will be riots in the streets. If they tried to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement there literally will be riots in the streets. I worry about the country.”

That was all Democrats needed.

Refresher For Democrats

Of course CNN found someone who needed a safe space upon hearing Graham’s words.

Mary McCord, a former acting attorney general, also threw in that amazing self-unawareness liberal Democrats are famous for.

The Guardian reports that McCord said that Graham was “incredibly irresponsible for an elected official to basically make veiled threats of violence, just if law enforcement and the Department of Justice … does their job.”

Excuse me, Ms. McCord, I’d like to introduce you to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). Early in Donald Trump’s presidency, when Democrats were contesting yet another GOP election win, Waters had this to say to her fellow Democrats:

In fact, violent tendencies started for Democrats long before Maxine Waters showed up. Who could forget Inauguration Day 2017?

And a quick question for Democrats, does the name James Hodgkinson ring a bell? It does for Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).

In 2017, as Republicans practiced for the annual congressional baseball game, Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders supporter, opened fire on the field, nearly fatally wounding Scalise and several others.

Examples are legion – most recently we’ve seen firebombing attacks on pro-life centers, and a man who attempted to assassinate conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh because he was angry about Roe v. Wade being overturned.

Maybe There’s Another Reason Republicans Think A Civil War May Happen?

All throughout the summer of 2020, America watched as groups like Black Lives Matter rioted for months on end, resulting in 25 people being killed when all was said and done.

But all this is swept under the carpet.

On Monday, MSNBC Host Ari Melber also played clips of Lindsey Graham, and this is what he said, “The wider context right now is the serious violence in our country. The ongoing surge in threats and attacks against the FBI including those fomented by Trump allies, including calls for a ‘civil war’ and ‘armed rebellion.’”

Melber then played clips of Republicans condemning the 2020 protests, and called them, “hypocritical,” which he thought set up his money quote:

“This is not a drill. You see the way they’re talking. You see how obviously hypocritical it is, how it goes to larger problems in their ability to function within a rule-of-law society with equality between all people and all races. This may get louder and more serious and more dangerous before we’re through with it.”

“Inability to function within a rule-of-law society.” Sounds familiar. Back in June, MSNBC’s Joy Reid and a guest on her show concluded that it was the job of left wing journalists to “warn” America that Republicans were “a threat to freedom.” They really don’t even merit fair coverage.

In July, CNN host Don Lemon stated that the media must cover Republicans differently, implying that they are a danger to society and cannot be “coddled.” Put it all together with Joe Biden calling Trump supporters “semi-fascists,” and you have something pretty chilling.

We have all heard the classic Saul Alinsky tactics that the left uses, but is the unspoken one to dehumanize your opponent, making it easier to commit violence against them?

The truth is, the heat is definitely turning up. That it’s the fault of Republicans is, as demonstrated, a flat-out lie.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
