On Thursday, NBC News senior political analyst Jonathan Allen opined that he believed President Biden sounded and looked “tired” partway through his press conference, after earlier “knocking it out of the park.”
Allen’s comment came after he praised Biden’s performance at the beginning of the press conference:
Biden is knocking this out of the park so far.

Just 13 minutes later, Allen noted that Biden was looking and sounding tired.

Allen’s Comments Draw Praise And Criticism
Allen’s Twitter followers were split on whether or not Biden was “knocking it out of the park.”
Yes he is. Coherent. Steady and chock full of knowledge. Compared to the previous SAP. Biden is kicking ass. Stick this is Matt Schlapp tail pipe.

Press keeps trying to question him into a corner and his responses are so calm and respectful ✊

Just as many people thought the opposite, and some people really let Allen have it.

As for Allen’s comment that Biden was looking and sounding tired, Biden fans weren’t impressed.
Looks pretty damn good to me. How are you doing?

Some on the left were less than pleased with the press:
I’m exhausted watching the press ask these questions as well

Allen’s Analysis
After the press conference, Allen wrote up his analysis for NBC News – even making some of the same comments.
“Joe Biden’s first news conference as president was true to form: cautiously newsy, aimed at moderation and more cogent at the start than the finish,” Allen opened up.
Allen noted the difference in tone between a Biden presser and a Trump presser: “Even though he misfired a couple of times, the change in texture from Trump-era news conferences was impossible to miss.”
Ultimately, Allen’s analysis seems to be that Biden’s performance is familiar.
He closes with, “Like him or not, the Biden who showed up in the White House East Room for his first formal news conference was exactly the one Americans have come to expect.”

Immigration Was A Hot Topic Due To The Border Crisis
Immigration was predictably an issue discussed significantly during the press conference.
Of the current surge at the border, “I’d like to think it’s because I’m a nice guy but it’s not,” Biden told reporters. “The truth of the matter is, nothing has changed.”
“The reason they’re coming is that it’s the time they can travel with the least likelihood of dying on the way because of the heat in the desert, No 1. No. 2, they’re coming because of the circumstances in their country,” Biden added.

Biden touted his plan to address what he calls the “root causes” of the immigration issue – namely, conditions in the home countries of immigrants:
The way to deal with this problem — and I started to deal with it back when I was a United States senator — I mean, Vice President — putting together a bipartisan plan of over $700 million to deal with the root causes of why people are leaving.
President @JoeBiden on the border crisis:
"I guess I should be flattered people are coming because I am a nice guy…The truth of the matter is nothing has changed…It happens every single solitary year."

CBS News reported this week that the number of migrant children in U.S. custody has risen.
CBS News reported on Sunday, “As of Saturday morning, more than 5,000 unaccompanied minors were being held in a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) tent holding facility in south Texas and other stations along the border with Mexico. According to the government records, unaccompanied children are spending an average of 136 hours in CBP custody, well beyond the 72-hour limit outlined in U.S. law.”
To Biden’s credit, he was fairly detailed in his immigration responses. At one point, he even paused to ask the press if he was getting too detailed.
Whether his answers or ideas were good or not may be another question.
Biden Says He Plans To Run For Re-election In 2024
At one point Biden was asked if he planned to run for re-election in 2024, a reasonable question of the 78-year-old president.
