Another big White House shakeup is now underway.

For weeks, the rumor around Washington has been that President Trump is seeking a replacement for embattled Chief of Staff John Kelly, who is in hot water for his knowledge about ousted Staff Secretary Rob Porter over allegations he abused his two ex-wives.

Kelly’s story – that he wasn’t aware of the extent of Porter’s abusive behavior – unraveled after FBI Director Christopher Wray contradicted the general’s account of events. Now, President Trump feels betrayed, and he’s looking for an opening to replace the otherwise hard-nosed Chief.

But that’s not the only intrigue currently taking place in the West Wing. National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster is also reportedly on the chopping block.

CNN reports:

A search is quietly being conducted by the Pentagon to see if there is a four-star military job suited for McMaster, these officials said.
Several sources told CNN that the push for a replacement comes after months of personal tension between McMaster and Trump. The task of easing McMaster out of his role as national security adviser presents a unique challenge for the White House.

For appearance’s sake, it would be bad for Trump to let go of both Kelly and McMaster together. No doubt President Trump, if he’s planning to fire both top officials, will keep his plan under wraps until the timing is right, and he’ll take less flack from the media.
It’s no secret that President Trump still prefers Michael Flynn, his former National Security Advisor who had to resign after lying to Vice President Pence about his contacts with Russia. McMaster has not lived up to Trump’s expectations.
Time will tell what President Trump plans to do.
