Security footage outside a Sao Paulo, Brazil, school shows an armed robber attempting to hold up children and their families, only to be immediately thwarted by a good guy, or in this case, a good mom, with a gun.
Video clearly shows the gunman approached a group of children waiting outside the school while drawing a weapon and announces his intentions.
What he didn’t know, however, was that one of the moms outside the school, Katia da Silva Sastre, was a military police officer.
Oh, and she was armed.
Sastre fired three shots at the armed criminal, and the incident was over within seconds.

Yea, he probably didn’t see that one coming.
This is a good demonstration of how important it is to quickly end any security threat with a well-trained, well-armed individual at a school.
Why? Because this man may have been intent on robbing the children and adults at the school, but with a weapon in hand, his intentions could have been a lot worse.
What if he were there to commit a mass shooting? What if this was an American school with a ‘gun-free school zone’ sign placed all over the premises?
“I didn’t know if he was going to shoot the kids or the mothers or the security guard at the school door,” Sastre told her colleagues. “I just thought about defending the mums, the children, my own life and my daughter’s.”
This surveillance video deserves an Academy Award.
Brazil is around 60,000 murders per year. A lot more of this, means a lot less of that. https://t.co/7H4jKPNqDX

Another contrast to ponder – what if this actually happened in America? The woman would have most likely been charged by a Democrat district attorney and the media would have pilloried her for her actions, calling her an NRA terrorist.
Instead, she was hailed as a hero. Sao Paulo Governor Márcio França tweeted, “I went earlier to the 4th BAEP in the east of Sao Paulo to honor a very special mother: Corporal Katia Sastre.”

“Her courage and precision saved mothers and children, yesterday at the door of a school,” França added.
The suspect later died from his injuries. Maybe others will think twice about pulling a gun outside a school, so long as there is a threat of somebody returning fire.
