Mitt Romney Launches Vile Attack On President Trump For Firing Multiple Inspector Generals

It's sad that Republicans like Romney are so quick to submit to Democrats by attacking President Trump.

Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) launched a vile attack on President Donald Trump on Saturday, castigating the commander-in-chief for firing multiple inspectors general.

President Trump told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday that he had fired State Department Inspector General Steve Linick because he no longer had “the fullest confidence” in him, according to The Blaze. Romney, a true never-Trump Republican, took the opportunity to blast the president, saying that he “is a threat to accountable democracy and a fissure in the constitutional balance of power.”

“The firings of multiple Inspectors General is unprecedented; doing so without good cause chills the independence essential to their purpose,” Romney continued.

Linick isn’t the only inspector general who has been fired, as Trump has also fired Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson and Defense Department Inspector General Glenn Fine. Congressional Democrats have announced plans to launch an investigation into the firings, claiming that they have evidence that the president engaged in a pattern of political retaliation.

Other Republicans have been attacking Trump over the terminations as well. “As I’ve said before, Congress requires written reasons justifying an IG’s removal. A general lack of confidence simply is not sufficient detail to satisfy Congress,” said Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), with Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) adding, “The President has not provided the kind of justification for the removal of IG Linick required by this law.”

It’s sad that Republicans like Romney are so quick to submit to Democrats by attacking President Trump. Romney is still bitter that Trump was able to win a presidential election, something he failed miserably at doing back in 2012.
