In a bizarre turn of events, Vice President Mike Pence’s Army physician, Dr. Jennifer Pena, was the woman behind a series of controversial allegations against Ronny Jackson – President Trump’s White House physician and nominee to head the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Pena began her career during the Obama administration and was assigned to Pence by the White House Medical Unit. She was never directly employed by Pence.

Among the charges that she levied against Jackson were the not-so-shocking claim that he prescribed Ambien, Provigil, and other drugs, to extremely damning ones, such as the claim that Jackson had worked while intoxicated. That latter claim would instantly destroy any physician’s career, and it would’ve destroyed Jackson’s if it were true. Pena briefed Democrat members of the Veteran’s Affairs Committee on the allegations, and they were quickly leaked to CNN (which cited her anonymously).

Jackson denied the allegations, and given that Mrs. Pena literally made them up, they quickly crumbled, and now it’s her out of a job.

As Fox News Sara Carter reported:

Pena, resigned from the White House Wednesday according to several senior Administration officials. Pena’s resignation comes just as the allegations she brought against President Trump’s physician Adm. Ronny Jackson were proven to be unsubstantiated. The onslaught of unfounded allegations – also propagated by Montana Sen. Jon Tester – led to Jackson’s decision to withdraw his name from consideration after being nominated by Trump to lead the Veteran’s Affairs Administration.

Pena officially left the White House on Friday (May 4th).

President Trump voiced his support for Jackson in light of the allegations, posting on Twitter last week “Admiral Jackson is the kind of man that those in Montana would most respect and admire, and now, for no reason whatsoever, his reputation has been shattered. Not fair, Tester!”

Trump nominated Jackson to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, but Jackson withdrew his nomination last week amid burgeoning allegations of professional misconduct, which we now know for certain were false. It’s sad to see a bogus smear still managed to cost him the position.
