This is terrible news. Not only was Jones a beloved character on TV, he was also featured in many movies. And, to top it all off, Jones was also an accomplished musician who played with Bob Dylan:
RIP Mickey Jones -was in tons of movies/TV. But he was also a drummer, filling in for Levon when the soon to be THE BAND backed Dylan in ’66. He hit THEE MOST IMPORTANT cymbal crash in rock history-“Play Fu*king Loud” yelled Bob. That crash set the LOUD. https://t.co/aJn75Eonv7 pic.twitter.com/pjfpKEiDgM

I never knew that! You can see him play with Kenny Rogers below:
Here he is playing “Burning Down the House” by Talking Heads on “Home Improvement”:
That was so much fun! Jones will truly be missed.
Fans mourned Jones’s passing over Twitter:
RIP Micky Jones. He was good at a lot of things especially friendship. BJ

This guy was in literally EVERY show in the late 70’s and 80’s, and none of us knew his name.
Rest in peace, Micky Jones. Hardest working man in Hollywood, I have to believe. https://t.co/pMNh177x5d

Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Mickey Jones, who had an amazing career as an actor & musician but to me will always be Chris, Ham Tyler’s partner in “V” – my condolences to those who knew him and like me, enjoyed his work. Rest in peace, good sir. pic.twitter.com/ABlhfBSfBO

RIP, Mickey Jones: he drummed for Trini Lopez, Bob Dylan & Kenny Rogers and the First Edition (that’s him on Ruby, Don’t Your Love To Town) and played on 17 gold records, but he was known best as a big, burly, bearded character actor who turned up on just about every TV series. pic.twitter.com/pHgqtuVzkH

Let us pray for Jones family during this difficult time. RIP
