Mexicans Protesting Migrant Caravan

If you thought it was only Donald Trump sounding the alarm on the approaching migrant caravan, think again. As many of the caravan members have reached the U.S.-Mexico border and others are approaching it, border communities in Mexico are sending a brief and clear message: go home.

According to the Associated Press:

On Sunday displeased Tijuana residents waved Mexican flags, sang the Mexican national anthem and chanted ‘Out! Out!’ in front of a statue of the Aztec ruler Cuauhtemoc, 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) from the U.S. border. They accused the migrants of being messy, ungrateful and a danger to Tijuana. They also complained about how the caravan forced its way into Mexico, calling it an ‘invasion.’ And they voiced worries that their taxes might be spent to care for the group.”

I thought the geniuses over at CNN said the caravan wasn’t attempting an “invasion”? The citizens of Mexico sure feel invaded.

“We don’t want them in Tijuana,” protesters shouted. One person, Juana Rodriguez, echoed many of the concerns Americans have about illegal immigrants, stating that the government needs to (at the very least) conduct background checks to make sure no migrants have criminal records. At least one caravan member has outstanding attempted murder charges against him, and we only know because he admitted as much to Fox News.

There’s no question that we simply don’t know who most of these migrants are. Journalist Sara Carter followed and reported on the caravan, and discovered the existence of migrants from India, Bangladesh, and Africa. That goes show that there’s either meticulous planning in assembling this caravan, or that non-Latin American illegals too are willing to exploit our lack of border security.

Mexico has offered the caravan migrants the opportunity to apply for asylum, which the public clearly isn’t happy with.

Mexico deports illegal immigrants – a lot of them

Mexico has their own illegal immigration problem from Central America – and they deport more  Central American illegal immigrants than the United States. This year Mexico has deported twice as many Central-American illegals as the US has.

Since implementing the “Southern Border Plan” in 2014, Mexico has deported more than 500,000 illegal immigrants from Central America.

Mexico’s immigration laws are stricter than ours

If Donald Trump is “racist” for simply wanting to enforce our immigration laws, what does that make Mexico?

It should come as little surprise that other nations do indeed secure their borders too, but did you know that Mexico is actually more strict when it comes to penalizing illegal immigration? To summarize just a number of key points:

  • Mexico denies more asylum requests than the U.S. While Trump has drawn fire for denying more asylum requests than other presidents (with 62% of requests denied), Mexico rejects 90%!
  • Mexico regulates immigration based on race. In Article 37 of Mexico’s General Law of Population, we learn that their Mexico’s Department of the Interior shall be able to deny foreigners entry into Mexico, if, among other reasons, they may disrupt the “domestic demographic equilibrium.” Additionally, Article 37 also states that immigrants can be removed if they’re detrimental to “economic or national interests.”
  • Mexico has their own “invisible” border wall they enforce:

Ironically, can you imagine how Trump would be (further) branded a racist if he were to mold our immigration laws off of Mexico’s?
