In a touching moment at the White House on Monday, First Lady Melania Trump comforted a young student who was clearly mortified that he had spilled a glass of water in such a place of prestige, and in front of such a powerful woman.
Melania was hosting a group of middle schoolers in the People’s House, alongside Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, to discuss struggles and challenges they’ve experienced in education.
As an introduction, she asked the children to describe their feelings using one word and write it on an electronic whiteboard in a room that had been set up to resemble a classroom.
The First Lady kicked off the session by making her own entry on the board – ‘Excited.’
“So maybe I could be the first one and tell you what I feel today,” she said. “I feel today very excited and thankful because you’re here and we’re opening up the conversation.”
The students then proceeded to write their own emotions on the board, with one saying they were ‘nervous,’ another ‘grateful,’ and still another said they felt ‘respected.’
The last child to write on the board wrote ‘energized.’
As he turned to walk away, his energy got the best of him and he accidentally spilled a glass of water. The boy let out a gasp and clearly froze for a few seconds, unsure of what to do or say.
Mrs. Trump, however, didn’t bat an eye and immediately said some soothing words for the young man.

“No problem,” Mrs. Trump said. “Don’t worry, it’s just a water, okay?”
Simple, comforting, and effective.
Pure heart and motherly affection.
Compare and contrast that to former President Barack Obama who once had yogurt spilled on him by a young woman. The incident occurred in April of 2012.
The then-narcissist-in-chief responded by making it all about him, saying “Getting yogurt on the president, you’ve got a story to tell.”
She responded, “I’m very embarrassed.”
Not as embarrassed as he should have been for eight years.
