Yesterday, the nation was shocked to learn that First Lady Melania Trump was admitted to the hospital for a scheduled surgery on a kidney. The office of the First Lady released the following statement: “First Lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition.”
President Trump visited Melania yesterday, but not before letting the country know that our First Lady was healthy and on the path to recovery:
Heading over to Walter Reed Medical Center to see our great First Lady, Melania. Successful procedure, she is in good spirits. Thank you to all of the well-wishers!

This morning, President Trump provided an update on his wife’s health, tweeting out the following:
Our great First Lady is doing really well. Will be leaving hospital in 2 or 3 days. Thank you for so much love and support!

This is wonderful news. Melania Trump is surely missed at the White House. Just a few short weeks ago, Melania threw a successful State Dinner for the president of France. The event was widely praised by the media.
Melania also recently unveiled the initiative she wants to focus on tackling during her time as First Lady: children’s health.
Clearly, Melania set out a tough schedule for herself, and she likely doesn’t want to take any time away from it.
One thing notable about the First Lady’s surgery was the secrecy to which it was given. In a White House famous for staff leaks and an insatiable media ready to print anything and everything staffers say, it was a wonder that Melania’s planned operation didn’t leak out.
Perhaps the White House press corps respected the First Lady’s privacy enough to not report on the hospital visit, though I doubt many reporters would resist the urge to publish such a scoop.
