Matt Gaetz Clashes With Fox’s Maria Bartiromo Over Kevin McCarthy’s Failures – ‘He’s Playing Patty Cake With The Bidens’

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) had to remind Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo of the failures thus far in Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) tenure as House Speaker.

In an oftentimes contentious interview, Bartiromo accused the Gaetz of waging a personal “vendetta” against McCarthy and potentially blowing up any “wins” the House GOP has seen thus far.

Unimpressed, Gaetz challenged her to identify those alleged wins.

“To push now, to blow up all of the wins that you all have had now,” Bartiromo said to which Gaetz simply replied: “Which wins? Please enumerate them.”

The Fox News host brought up some examples, most of which involved the formation of investigative committees and the impeachment inquiry.

Gaetz dismissed them as “steps in a process” as opposed to actual wins and called the impeachment inquiry “failure theater.”

Gaetz Schools Bartiromo On McCarthy’s Failures

During the heated exchange, Gaetz had to remind Bartiromo of the many issues McCarthy has yet to act upon – including inflation and any efforts to rein in an out-of-control Joe Biden administration.

“Those are steps in a process, that setting up a committee is an end unto itself only in Washington, D.C.,” he scoffed.”These committees have done nothing to reduce inflation, they’ve done nothing to actually constrain the Biden government.”

As for the impeachment inquiry championed by Bartiromo as a McCarthy win, Gaetz effectively threw cold water on that also.

“If Kevin McCarthy was actually serious about pursuing the Bidens, he would have sent Hunter Biden a subpoena by now,” he countered. “That’s how you know that it’s sort of failure theater that you’re observing.”

Gaetz responded to accusations from Bartiromo that he has a vendetta against the Speaker causing him to “hold up” funding the government.

“My vendetta is against a Washington system that allows corruption to put the interests of lobbyists and PACs above the interests of the American people,” Gaetz fired back. “Kevin McCarthy facilitates that system, and I do deeply resent that, but I’m not working with Chuck Schumer or any other Democrat.”

McCarthy’s Failure Theater

Gaetz is correct – the McCarthy wins thus far are little more than clickbait for right-leaning networks rather than anything substantive.

McCarthy has failed to impeach Biden in year three years, only calling for an inquiry. He didn’t help curb inflation, he helped facilitate it with the Biden-McCarthy debt ceiling bill.

And we just learned of another failure. Remember when McCarthy announced that Ukraine would no longer be the benefactor of a “blank check” from the United States government?

He had a chance to walk the walk, at first announcing that he had stripped funding to Ukraine from a Pentagon spending bill on Friday, only to tuck tail and put it back in a day later.

That is an unserious man. A coward. A producer of failure theater.

Gaetz concluded by suggesting that McCarthy is simply allowing President Biden to get away with whatever he desires.

“We’re playing patty cake with the Bidens. We’re allowing them to get away with it and we’re funding it. We’re sending the money,” he said. “If we were serious, use the power of the purse.”
