A man blasted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar during the annual Ground Zero anniversary ceremony on Wednesday for framing 9/11 as “some people did something.”
This man arguably has more moral authority than anyone to task Omar to task: His mother was a victim of the 9/11 attacks.
‘Some people did something?’
Wearing a black T-shirt with the words “Some people did something?” Nicholas Haros Jr. went after the congresswoman and the rest of the so-called “Squad” after he announced the names of the dead, including his mother’s, Frances Haros.
“’Some people did something,’ said a freshman congresswoman from Minnesota,” said Haros, referring to Omar. Haros continued, “Today I am here to respond to you exactly who did what to whom.”

‘We know who and what was done’
“Madam, objectively speaking, we know who and what was done. There is no uncertainty about that. Why your confusion?” Haros queried. “On that day, 19 Islamic terrorist members of al Qaeda killed over 3,000 people and caused billions of dollars of economic damage. Is that clear?”
“But as to whom,” Haros continued, “I was attacked, your relatives and friends were attacked, our constitutional freedoms were attacked and our nation’s founding on Judeo-Christian principles were attacked.”
“That’s what some people did,” Haros blared. “Got that now?”

“We are here today, Congresswoman, to tell you and the Squad just who did what to whom,” Haros added. “Show respect in honoring them, please. American patriotism in your position demands it.”
“Mom, we always miss you and love you very much,” Haros said, before launching into his attack on Omar.
Haros’ mother was 76 on the day of the attacks.

Stop Politicizing and Trivializing 9/11
This was not the first time Haros took politicians to task for being insensitive about those who lost their lives on 9/11.
During last year’s ceremony, Haros said the victims should stop being used “as props.”
“Stop. Stop. Please stop using the bones and ashes of our loved ones as props for your political theater,” Haros said in 2018. “Their lives, sacrifices and death are worth so much more. Let’s not trivialize them or us. It hurts.”
“This year, a representative of the House referred to our loss as just another incident,” Haros said. “This year, a network commentator said the president’s performance in Helsinki was a traitorous act as was 9/11 … And last week, a senator attacked a Supreme Court nominee and called him a racist for alleged comments after 9/11.”
Nicholas Haros Jr. wants 9/11 not be used so frivolously in our language and our memory as to not dishonor the thousands of people who lost their lives that day.
He’s right. We owe them at least that much.
Now if only Ilhan Omar could get a clue – and show some respect – too.
