Liz Cheney: Trump is the ‘Most Significant Threat’ to the US

Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney says Donald Trump becoming president again is the greatest threat to the United States.

Not terrorism. Not illegal immigration. Not inflation. Not an out of control war breaking out.

No, the neoconservative establishment Republican says Trump is the primary danger.

‘Most Significant Threat’

Cheney told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow:

I think certainly Trump is the most significant threat but I think that, you know, we’re facing an emergency across the board. I think people need to think about, first of all, running for office themselves. I say that with great seriousness. …

If you look at the extent to which some of the Trump forces are organized from the local level up to the presidency, those of us who believe in the Constitution and who are going to defend the democracy have to be organized in the same way. It means being willing to set aside other issues, and it means making sure that when you cast your vote, you are not doing it based on partisanship. It means helping to educate people and talking to people about how gravely perilous and significant this moment is.

It’s interesting and welcomed that Liz Cheney has finally discovered what the Constitution is, considering her career has been dedicated almost exclusively to tearing it apart, but nevertheless.

Cheney added, “It is so fundamentally important we ensure Democrats, Independents, Republicans that we work together, we vote together, we make clear that Donald Trump is not an acceptable alternative. He is not the lesser of two evils. He is a completely unfit man for office. He’s already shown us what he would do and he could never be near the Oval Office again.”

Readers who remember the Trump years remember them as some of the freest and most prosperous years in recent memory, perhaps even many decades. Who is she trying to convince?

Neocons gonna neocon

While Trump ran on an ‘America First’ agenda that criticized the Iraq War that was carried out by President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney’s has remained a staunch defender of that war and her father’s legacy.

To contrast, Trump was the first president in decades who did not start any new U.S. wars.

Neoconservatives like Cheney (father or daughter) believe that America’s greatness is measured by her willingness to exercise military domination across the globe.

Trump’s ‘America First’ philosophy emphasizes putting our country first and not bankrupting the US by intervening in every war imaginable.

No wonder Liz Cheney thinks Donald Trump is the greatest threat to her version of America.
