Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, a Republican, is reportedly urging President Trump to back down on his border wall demand and open the government.

Sen. Murkowski is one of the first Senate Republicans to indicate that she doesn’t agree with Trump’s gambit and, despite a heart-stirring speech before the nation last night, she thinks the President should back down.
So far, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is refusing to entertain Democrat-passed spending bills from the House that open the government but offer zero dollars for the construction of a physical barrier along the southern border. “The Senate will not waste its time considering a Democratic bill which cannot pass this chamber and which the president will not sign,” McConnell said recently on the Senate floor.
Murkowski to urge Trump to surrender
Murkowski’s breaking of rank shows that Senate Republicans, despite the leadership of McConnell, is not solidly on the side of the President. She will reportedly speak to the President later today and urge him to end the shutdown and push the border-wall fight to another day.

This is, of course, a losing tactic. Trump has no leverage on Democrats other than the shutdown. Democrats have no incentive to give him anything for a border wall. Hanging up the towel now means losing for good.

If you cave you will be done as President and a one term President that failed with his agenda for America..Lisa Murkowski is expendable in the eyes of the American people as she always fights for the second or third best for her country.. Alaska should be considering finding a replacement for Murkowski with the likes of a Sarah Palin. Then you would have excellent representation coming form your state of Alaska speaking for you. Republicans it is time to get behind our President and grow a backbone stand up and fight for what America needs..Why do we the Republicans always feel that we have to cave and give into the Democrats that never offer up anything of value or of importance to the Country and it’s people. President Trump needs to declare a national emergency if the Democrats won’t budge. Then, he can use money already allocated for emergencies to build the wall or steel barrier and won’t need it in the budget.
Forget the federal workers. We have too many already and they are unionized and vote Democrat. Plus, the military will get paid. Otherwise, if the feds won’t protect Americans I suggest people start arming themselves and shooting any person committing crimes.
