Liberals Are Furious About ICE – What About the IRS and NSA?

VAN NUYS, CA - APRIL 17: J. D. Montgomery holds a sign on the street outside of the James C. Corman Federal Building encouraging motorist to express their anger at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on their final day to file 2005 income taxes on April 17, 2006 in Van Nuys, California. Montgomery says he has not filed his income tax returns since about 1964. Because the traditional deadline of April 15 fell on a Saturday, Californians were able to take advantage of the entire weekend to prepare their tax returns for filing on Monday the 17th. In some locations, a Monday holiday, Patriot's Day, gives taxpayers even more time with the deadline pushed back to April 18. (Photo by David McNew/Getty Images)

Last week, New York University adjunct professor Sam Lavigne doxxed (basically, revealing personal information about a person online) – 1,595 ICE employees when he published their full names and home addresses to a repository on his GitHub account. According to Lavigne, he published the information “with the hope that researchers, journalists, and activists will find it useful.”

Thankfully, GitHub removed the files and suspended Lavigne’s account – but not before Antifa could pick up the information and spread it to their followers on Twitter. A few days later, an unidentified DHS official found a burned and decapitated animal carcass on his front porch.

Lavigne’s reprehensible actions are the latest in a growing wave of liberal harassment, intimidation, and violence against members of the Trump administration and ICE employees specifically. Just days before Lavigne published his cache, Occupy Wall Street encouraged their followers to murder ICE agents. Earlier this week, an ICE agent’s ankle was broken as he attempted to shield an elderly woman from protesters.

It’s getting so bad, many Americans think a second civil war is on the horizon.

But despite the burgeoning violence, President Donald Trump has remained steadfast. Speaking at a rally in Fargo, N.D., Wednesday, he issued a stern warning to extremist liberals that their “shameless attacks” will not be tolerated:

“Left-wing activists are trying to block ICE officers from doing their jobs and publicly posting their home addresses, putting these incredible people and their families in harm’s way.

These radical Democrat protesters, they really want anarchy, but the only response they will find from our government is very strong law and order. We will not tolerate attacks on our law enforcement. We will protect our law enforcement like they protect us. We will always stand proudly with our brave heroes of ICE, the Border Patrol, the sheriffs, the police. Yes, the firemen. The firemen are sometimes under attack if you can believe it. The firemen, these are great people. And we have their backs.”

To drive Trump’s point home: extremist liberals are attacking people who are just trying to keep Americans safe. Every other country in the world refuses to tolerate people illegally crossing their borders, so why should the United States? ICE and Border Patrol are the front line keeping America safe from criminals intent on doing harm. What’s so terrible about that? If liberals really want to fight injustice, there are far greater enemies they could oppose. Take, for example, the IRS and NSA.

Unlike Border Patrol, the Internal Revenue Service is pointless. Not only does the intrusive IRS make the tax filing process needlessly complicated, but it’s become a partisan agency that’s used by leftwing bureaucrats as a political weapon against conservative organizations and individuals. Where was all the outrage when Lois Lerner got away with discriminating against members of the Tea Party? It was one-sided, because the left is perfectly okay with their opponents being unfairly targeted.

As for the NSA, they’re still invading the privacy of innocent Americans everywhere. Just this week, The Intercept published a report exposing the existence of “hidden spy hubs” stationed in eight major cities across the U.S. These buildings, all AT&T facilities, “are central to an NSA spying initiative that has for years monitored billions of emails, phone calls, and online chats passing across U.S. territory.”

Remember back during the Bush administration when liberals used to (pretend to) care about unaccountable bureaucrats invading our privacy and violating our constitutional rights? And then their silence during the Obama administration?

Again: where is the outrage? It’s sadly limited to extremely narrow, partisan boogeymen. And in this case, it’s being used to put Americans last. Just look at this (and we apologize in advance that it is from CNN):

Liberals would do well to gain some perspective and realize that the people they’re demonizing are the ones trying to protect our country. If they want to find the real boogeymen, they should pay less attention to the border and more attention to their fellow Democrats in Washington, D.C.
