U.S. Olympic bobsledder and silver medalist Lauren Gibbs was forced to delete a selfie she took alongside White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and the daughter of the President of the United States, Ivanka Trump.
The caption accompanying the patriotic image urged people to be civil to each other despite our many differing viewpoints as Americans.
In other words, it promoted a message of tolerance and understanding – the exact opposite message sent by intolerant athletes like Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy.
“It’s important to remember that we don’t have to agree on everything to get along, be civil to each other and enjoy each others company,” Gibbs’s message read. “#itsforamerica it was a pleasure to meet you both!”
What did Gibbs’s message of unity get her? An onslaught of liberal hatred, of course. To the point where she had to delete the cute photo.

“I deleted (by choice) the photo because I was tired of reading the hate being thrown back and forth,” Gibbs wrote shortly after the left slammed her over the image. “Whether you hate me for posting or hate me for taking it down… you are the same… hate from either side is hate…”

The hate came in droves, fast and furious, people outraged that an Olympic athlete would take a photo with the First Daughter of the United States.
Especially a minority woman. No, you simply can’t stray off the liberal plantation in today’s day and age.
What Lauren Gibbs did wasn’t noble or graceful. It’s participation of normalizing an administration that attacks the humanity of POC (who look like you), women (also you), LGBTQ+, denounces science, creates the very division you stand next to. Cue @Nas “These Are Our Heroes”

Sorry to hear you’ll have regret with your Olympic experience looking back in time. Years from now you’ll realize how dumb this photo was

One dolt even compared the picture to Jesse Owens taking a picture with Eva Braun …
I would feel stupid if I had anything to do with it.. but I don’t so I won’t

You have to be a special kind of stupid to try and draw that parallel.
“Turning this into a Democrat vs Republican ‘thing’ isn’t the answer it’s part of the problem,” Gibbs later wrote to those trying to turn her Olympic experience into some sort of political issue.
That’s the problem, Ms. Gibbs – Democrats don’t concern themselves with Olympic spirit, patriotism, or American pride. Everything is a political statement.
Sorry you had to learn that the hard way.
