To the chagrin of gun-hating liberals everywhere, several survivors of last month’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. have not expressed a desire for more gun control. In fact, some have been very outspoken about their support of the Second Amendment, including 16-year-old junior Kyle Kashuv, who recently visited Washington to talk about gun rights.
Kashuv met with First Lady Melania Trump in the White House, where he showed her the ReachOut app he designed in the wake of the shooting. The app allows students to connect with other students to discuss emotional or mental problems they might be experiencing.
Melania tweeted about her meeting with Kashuv.
Wonderful to meet @KyleKashuv today. His message of unity is one we should all share. Thank you for visiting us at the @WhiteHouse & hope you enjoyed your surprise meeting with @potus! Wishing you much success w @TheReachOutApp. pic.twitter.com/K4aGydo1uX

Melania also surprised Kashuv with a meeting with President Donald Trump – and afterward, Kashuv sent a tweet about the Trumps that surely enraged liberals.
Was so great meeting @FLOTUS and @POTUS @realDonaldTrump. They’re true Patriots. Thank you @KellyannePolls, I owe you the world. pic.twitter.com/J3fhJfGeH6

A true patriot knows a fellow true patriot when he sees one!
Kashuv also met with several legislators during his visit, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, Sen. Orrin Hatch, Rep. Mark Meadows, and Sen. Ted Cruz. The lawmakers all spoke very highly of Kashuv, and vice versa.

“You’re doing the Lords work in raising these issues.” Hatch, to Parkland student @KyleKashuv on his efforts to stop school violence by championing safer, more loving schools. #utpol pic.twitter.com/7h4nsvdaRq

Policy and legislation aside, @senorrinhatch gave me a huge hug after we met and told me that I need to keep in touch with him. We need more people like him.
Mr. Senator, when I am in Utah let’s go to a gun range and celebrate that law abiding citizens have the #2A. #MSDStrong pic.twitter.com/9yy5KiiVAg

I love what this young man @KyleKashuv is doing–engaging on all sides of the aisle to discuss ideas and solutions (like @TheReachOutApp), all while understanding that we all have the same ultimate goal.
This is how problems get solved. We need more like you in D.C., Kyle. https://t.co/kNmfVHMTPD

.@SenTedCruz, meeting the Senator was an honor. I agree with your legislation and look forward to being an advocate for you!
Senator, I am here to help. Let’s get some BBQ Texas ribs when we, together, get the Senator’s bill through the House and Senate. pic.twitter.com/uttOu5SLLj

Kashuv finished up his trip by making some media rounds – where he continued to advocate for the Second Amendment.

It’s heartening to see that someone directly affected by a school shooting tragedy is looking for real solutions and not just senselessly calling for gun control. Many of the liberals on Capitol Hill could learn a thing or two from Kashuv; he clearly has a bright future ahead of him.
