Christine Blasey Ford’s Legal Team Withholds Key Evidence from Senate Judiciary Committee

One day when this is all over, the American people will wonder where our heads were at when it came to the attacks on Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Tomorrow, Christine Blasey Ford is set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on her allegations that Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, forcibly groped her in high school.

The entire saga leading up to this much-anticipated testimony is full of twists and turns. As of this writing, it’s still unclear whether or not Ford will actually testify before the Committee. (RELATED: Kavanaugh Accuser Christine Blasey Ford Indicates She May Not Testify After All.)

Ford’s legal team has been less than cooperative, as they’ve been making absurd demands from Republicans on the Committee, such as disallowing certain media outlets from attending the testimony. And then there are outstanding questions about the partisan affiliations of Ford’s attorneys, who had to cancel a fundraiser for a prominent Democrat senator after taking Ford’s case. Of course, there’s also been the chicanery of Senator Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee who deliberately withheld Ford’s allegations until just before his confirmation vote. Previously, Feinstein wasn’t even sharing Ford’s original accusation letter with Republicans on the Committee. (RELATED: Dianne Feinstein’s Office Won’t Share Kavanaugh Accuser’s Letter.)

Now, we’re learning that Ford’s team is withholding key evidence from the Committee. Kavanaugh’s lawyer revealed as much. She told CBS This Morning that Ford’s attorneys haven’t handed over Ford’s lie detector test results or her therapist’s notes.

This is important. We’ve been told endlessly that Ford took a lie detector test to prove her claims.

First of all, if these are such crucial pieces of evidence, why have they not been turned over?

Second, a lie detector test by itself proves nothing. Those machines are notoriously unreliable and don’t usually stand up in a court of law. Still, why hide the results anyway?

Lastly, the therapist notes are problematic because Kavanaugh was never named in them, and there was a discrepancy in the narrative they detailed. (RELATED: There’s a Discrepancy in Kavanaugh Accuser’s Account of Sexual Assault.)

All these things aside, there is no reason to be withholding this evidence at this point. What is Ford trying to hide?
