Axios: Trump Team Considers Firing Katie Walsh from Outside Group America First

The fallout from the sensation-laden book by author Michael Wolff continues.

Yesterday, former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon fell completely out of favor with President Trump after it was revealed that Bannon trashed the Trump family to Wolff, and even implied that Trump’s son, Donald Jr., may have committed treason.

Bannon is officially “dead” to the Trumps. And it looks like he won’t be the only casualty caused by Wolff’s explosive revelations.

Katie Walsh, former deputy chief of staff in the White House, left for the pro-Trump outside group America First last March. But it looks like her time in the White House may be coming back to bite her. Hard.

Quotes from Walsh included in Wolff’s book are especially critical toward President Trump, implying that he’s illiterate and childish.

Jonathan Swan of Axios reported that Walsh denied the quote:

But now Swan is reporting that senior White House officials are mulling over whether or not to fire Walsh from America First. From the report:

Senior White House officials are debating whether Katie Walsh should be fired from Trump’s main outside group, America First, after comments she reportedly made to the author Michael Wolff, according to two sources with direct knowledge.

The Wolff reporting on Walsh that infuriated West Wingers: Figuring out what Trump wants is “like trying to figure out what a child wants,” Wolff quotes Walsh as saying.

Walsh may deny Wolff’s quotes, but Mike Allen, also of Axios, says that Wolff has Walsh’s quotes on a recording.

If her quotes about Trump’s reading ability are true, then she should be forced from her post. There’s no use having someone supporting the President who simultaneously believes he has the intelligence of a grade school student.

All of this is more drama the White House doesn’t need heading into the new year. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
