If California Senator Kamala Harris ends up being President Trump’s 2020 presidential opponent, consider the race wrapped up now.
That’s because of a “joke” the Junior Senator made earlier today on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.” When asked if she would rather be on an elevator with President Trump, Vice President Pence, or Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Harris instead asked, ‘Does One of Us Have to Come Out Alive?’ The crowd, of course, whooped and hollered as Kamala let out a demonic laugh. Yes, yes. We all know the difference between a dark joke made in good humor and just plain viciousness. This one goes just a little too far.
As we’ve reported previously, Sen. Harris is quietly raising money and laying the groundwork for a presidential run in 2020. She’s included in many analysts shortlists, predicting which Democrats will run the next time around.
Harris will have her work cut out for her, as she tries to appeal to both the hardcore, Bernie Sanders wing of the Party and the more established members. Harris has plenty of Wall Street ties, which is a big liability among supporters of Sanders.
And now Harris will also have to deal with the fact that she lambastes President Trump every day for his language, but is perfectly fine dropping jokes about killing a sitting president, vice president, and attorney general.
If Democrats truly believed that Trump’s tough talk was dividing the nation, they wouldn’t say jokes like this. They’d uphold the same standard across the board, regardless of partisan affiliation.
Sen. Harris’s remarks show a remorseless Democrat who is willing to do bend the rules so that she gets the benefit. We don’t want that kind of person in the White House.
