MSNBC chose Joy Reid to discuss a controversial tweet from Roseanne Barr that quickly led to the termination of her ABC show “Roseanne.” Barr had tweeted that former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett looked like the “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.” Barr has since claimed that she didn’t intend for the tweet to be seen as racist and that she thought Jarrett was Iranian, not black. Joy Reid seemed like an odd choice for MSNBC’s analyst that they chose to cover the story, given a recent scandal of her own. (RELATED: LGBTQ Group Pulls Joy Reid’s Award Over Anti-Gay Blog Posts).
According to the Daily Mail:
MSNBC has been slammed for having Joy Reid comment on air about the cancellation of Roseanne Barr’s show over her racist tweets given that Reid was not disciplined for homophobic blog posts which she dubiously claimed was posted by hackers.

MSNBC’s coverage of the Roseanne firestorm included a segment featuring Reid being interviewed by Mitchell. ‘What do you have to do on social media to get fired from a top rated show on an American broadcast network?’ Mitchell asked Reid.
Reid answered by talking about Barr’s apology. Barr tweeted that she regretted disparaging Jarrett for her appearance. ‘That was a very telling part of the apology,’ Reid said. ‘I’m not surprised, this is the kind of humor that Roseanne does.’
Neither seemed aware of the irony in Reid asking what someone has to do to get fired from a show. Everyone and their mother knows that if Reid wasn’t a liberal, she would’ve actually faced consequences for her past blog posts, that she then lied about for weeks. Roseanne retweeted the following reaction from Paul Joseph Watson echoing such sentiments.
And many others couldn’t help but see the hypocrisy either:
A better question is, “what does someone have to do to get fired from MSNBC?”
