Did Joy Behar Just Defend Trump Against Mitt Romney’s Attack?

“The View” co-host Joy Behar, a fervent critic of Donald Trump, blasted Senator-elect Mitt Romney for his hypocrisy after Romney attacked the President in a recent op-ed for the Washington Post.

Romney penned a column indicating that Trump had failed to live up to the “mantle” of the presidency, failed to provide American leadership in the realm of admirable character, and that he would not, as the Senator from Utah, hesitate to call out any “significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions” should they arise.

For his part, the President was quick to respond, noting that it was little surprise that Romney, who criticized him as a candidate in 2016 then groveled for his support during his Senate campaign, would flip back to being anti-Trump.

On this point, Behar seems to concur, a rare agreement between her and the President.

Behar points out Romney’s hypocrisy

Behar, along with the other hosts of “The View,” all seemed to be in agreement that Romney could not be trusted because he has flip-flopped too many times on the topic of Trump.

Yet, they still managed to squeeze in some ‘resistance’ comments, much to the delight of their liberal audience.

“After Trump won, he was at the White House, I believe, begging for a job as Secretary of State,” Behar said. “Groveling. So, I don’t trust this, although I welcome it and hope that he has found his true self and will be a good, good Senator.”

Being a ‘good Senator’ means opposing Trump, of course, not doing what is right for the people of Utah.

Joining in Behar’s critique of Romney were co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Meghan McCain, and Abby Huntsman.

Hostin referred to Romney as a “shapeshifter,” McCain noted that his own niece called his comments “disappointing and unproductive,” while Huntsman added that “Romney is going to be about Romney every single time.”

It seems everyone is in agreement – while Trump may be loathsome in the mind of the ladies of “The View,” Romney can’t be taken seriously because he’s been politically opportunistic in the past.

Behar is no Trump fan, either

Still, getting Behar to denounce somebody for calling out the President is no easy task. Typically, she’ll side blindly with the opposition, as most suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome will.

Just last month, Behar was asking the President to resign as a gift to her as she celebrated her 20 year anniversary on “The View.”

Further attacks on Trump have included:

She also, quite recently, instigated a shouting match with McCain, because she was completely incapable of covering the death of former President George H.W. Bush without attacking Trump.

Romney is so despised for his hypocritical stance on the President that he can’t even get support from this unhinged anti-Trumper. That’s pretty bad.
