Joe Biden Won't Accept Accountability In Disastrous Afghanistan Withdrawal

On Tuesday, a seemingly angry, or at least ornery, Joe Biden defended his actions in how the U.S. exited Afghanistan, with the president refusing to admit mistakes or accept responsibility for lost Americans lives or those still stranded.

Sleepy Joe was wide awake on this one.

Biden told the American people, incredibly, “Some say that the evacuation from Afghanistan could have been started sooner and completed in a more orderly fashion.”

“I respectfully disagree,” he insisted.

Biden’s Bottom Line

Biden called U.S. evacuation efforts a success.

These efforts, which resulted in over 100,000 Afghans being imported to America, tens of billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment falling into the hands of the Taliban, at least 13 dead Americans, and Americans left behind enemy lines was a success?

One shudders to think that what failure would have looked like.

“The extraordinary success of this mission is due to the incredible skill, bravery and selfless courage of the United States military and our diplomats and intelligence professionals,” the president said.

Biden sounded as if he was almost yelling when he defended his Afghanistan policies.

The president’s remarks came just a day after the last U.S. flight left Kabul, where that airport had suffered a bombing just a week prior in which 13 American service members lost their lives.

Biden said that 90 percent of Americans who wanted to leave the war-torn country were able to do so. Again, this counts as “success” to Biden.

“The bottom line is there is no evacuation from the end of a war that you can run without the kinds of complexities, challenges, threats we faced. None,” Biden insisted.

Biden Blames Trump

But the plan wasn’t all sweetness and light – there was still blame to be laid, and you can probably guess where.

Biden blamed former President Donald Trump for empowering the Taliban and insisted he never had any intention of going past the August 31 deadline. The Taliban warned the administration not to stay past August 31 or there could be consequences.

“That was the real choice, between leaving and escalating,” Biden claimed.

But Biden faces another choice.

Who will be held accountable for this mess? Will anyone be held accountable for the fictional Afghan government and military we propped up for years?

Will anyone be held accountable for – and this can’t be stressed enough – leaving Americans behind?

For the dead?
