Joe Biden And Kamala Harris Pick French Restaurant For Memorial Day Meal

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris brought their respective First Lady Jill and Second Gentleman to a Memorial Day lunch at Le Diplomate in Washington, a popular upscale French restaurant.

Many outlets noted that this was the first time Biden has been to known have a sit-down dining experience in a restaurant during his presidency.

Biden and Harris go French for Memorial Day meal

The Washingtonian reported on Monday, “The two couples were greeted by cheers as their motorcade pulled up unannounced around 11:40 AM, following a morning visit to Arlington Cemetery. They were then escorted through a side entrance on 14th Street.”

The DC-focused news outlet noted that Biden frequented the restaurant several times before.

On the Hors d’Oeuvres menu at Le Diplomate, one can find Steak Tartare du Parc, Escargots à la Bourguignonne, Foie Gras Parfait, and Gougères.

The restaurant’s lunch menu includes a $20 dollar American hamburger with “pommes frites,” a $35 dish of Beef Bourguignon, or a $59 dish of Lobster Frites.

The Washingtonian: ‘Jill Biden Was Previously Known In The Dining Room As An ‘MA’ For ‘Must Accommodate’

The Washingtonian observed that, “The restaurant is famed for catering to VIPs, or as the staff calls them ‘PPX,’ personnes particulièrement extraordinaire.”

The restaurant even has special codes for certain important figures.

Washingtonian noted that “Jill Biden was previously known in the dining room as an ‘MA’ for ‘Must Accommodate.’ Lesser VIPs, such as neighborhood regulars, are dubbed ‘TTA, for ‘Try to Accommodate.”

‘The Restaurant Is A Hotspot For The Political Elite’

“The restaurant is a hotspot for the political elite on both sides of the aisle,” the news outlet reported. “Barack and Michelle Obama have been there. So has Ivanka Trump. (Her father has not.)”

On former President Donald Trump, the Washingtonian said that, “He only ate at one DC restaurant in his entire four year in office—the steakhouse in his own hotel.”

“Pretty much any senator or big wig you can think of has been spotted there at some point,” noted the Washingtonian.
