Have you ever heard “once a man, twice a child?”

I think I can use that to describe controversial race-hating, anti-Trump Spike Lee’s reaction last night during the announcement of Best Picture during the 2019 Oscars.

Many conservatives didn’t watch the show because it’s not something they are interested in, but to watch progressives eat their own? That’s quite another thing.

Lee, already an Oscar winner earlier in the night, was so angry when his movie wasn’t announced as winning the award for Best Picture that he stood up and tried to leave the theater while the Green Book cast was on stage giving their acceptance speech. The ushers stopped Lee from leaving and told him to go back to his seat, which he did.

With his attitude in tow, he went back to his seat and started talking with actor and director Jordan Peele. Lee was asked for a reaction about Green Book winning Best Picture, and he acted incoherently.

Lee won an award earlier in the night for Best Adapted Screenplay, his first Oscar win ever, but that didn’t stop him from acting like he didn’t have any sense with his anger toward Green Book.

Lee and his liberal crowd are always so righteous and demand that they are treated fairly. But they apparently can’t show basic courtesy and respect for their fellow professionals at an awards ceremony. It’s another example of just how out of touch Hollywood is with the rest of the country.

After the show, Lee told reporters backstage: “I’m snakebit. Every time someone’s driving somebody, I lose… I thought I was courtside at [Madison Square] Garden and the refs made a bad call.”

His movie got an award, and he couldn’t be happy for other filmmakers also winning? I don’t get his gripe with Green Book.

On Monday morning, President Trump even called out Lee on Twitter for eluding to the Commander-in-Chief during his acceptance speech when the filmmaker won.

Let’s be honest, the Academy gave Lee a participation trophy in the form of a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar and won’t bother with him ever again. He should have savored his experience instead of making a spectacle out of himself.

He needs to realize that playing the black card for 34 years doesn’t automatically earn you a Best Director Oscar. To think, one time Lee was an interesting person in filmmaking.

But today, Spike behaves like a child. Maybe that’s part of why his movie didn’t win the Best Picture.

In his mind, Spike Lee expected to roll in with the tide of diversity at this year’s Oscars, but that didn’t happen. Now, he will continue making movies most don’t go to see.
