You should always take polls conducted by partisans with a grain of salt, and that’s especially true with the Huffington Post. Who could forget their brilliant polling methods that “proved” that Hillary Clinton would beat Donald Trump?
Following Donald Trump’s State of the Union, the publication posted a poll to their Twitter account to gauge their users’ response. Obviously a Twitter poll isn’t a scientific poll, and is expected to be skewed entirely to the left, as the majority of the people who follow the Huffington Post on Twitter are liberals.
CBS’s post-SOTU poll found 75 percent of Americans approving, with 25 percent disapproving.
To HuffPo’s surprise, their poll, which only included one positive option to vote for, found even more favoring Trump than CBS.

It looks like someone on the right directed attention to the poll, because the thread is overwhelmingly filled with pro-Trump individuals, and liberals bewildered by the results.

Ironically, not having viewed the address doesn’t really make you more likely to have loved the speech. As we reported the day before the speech, Campus Reform sent a correspondent around NYC’s New York University to gauge student opinion on the SOTU address that had yet to be given.
The reactions to it ranged from those finding it “offensive” to downright “ridiculous.” Ridiculous indeed.
One student commented that it was “quite racist at the very least, if not up there with the most racist.”
At one point, Philips tells the NYU students that Trump informed Democrats that the wall would be ten feet taller because they didn’t stand up to give him applause. An absolutely crazy claim that students identified as “absolutely crazy,” but because they actually thought it occurred.
In reality, it’s true that Democrats really didn’t stand and give applause for almost anything Trump had to say, including:
- Lowest black and hispanic unemployment rate in history
- Companies dishing out $1,000+ bonuses because of tax reform
- The creation of 2.4 million jobs
- A fully secure border – when most of them voted in favor of the Secure Fence Act of 2006.
- Jerusalem as Israel’s capital
- Merit-based immigration
It’s almost as if they don’t care about the issues anymore, they just care about “resisting” Trump.
