Hillary Clinton taunted former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon with a five-word message and a retweet reminding America that she’s “never been indicted.”
Jennifer Hayden, graphic novelist and author of a memoir about her survival of breast cancer titled, “The Story of My Tits,” jabbed at Bannon initially.
“You know who is not going to jail and has never been indicted for anything?” tweeted Hayden along with a GIF of a smiling former Secretary of State. “Hope you have a great weekend Hillary Clinton.”
Clinton shared the tweet and a brief response.
“Thanks, it was quite restful,” she wrote.
Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury for contempt of Congress and turned himself in on Monday. He is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
An op-ed column in The Hill recently discussed the political peril involved in the Justice Department pursuing Bannon.
“The criminal case has given Bannon the biggest platform he has enjoyed in years,” they write.
Indeed, Bannon seems to have relished his role as a possible martyr in what many Trump supporters feel is a sham investigation into the Capitol riot, the crux of his contempt arrest in the first place.
The former aide to the President vowed to go “on the offense” and threatened that it would be “the misdemeanor from hell for Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.”
“They took on the wrong guy this time,” he bragged. “They took on the wrong guys.”
The Hill column notes that with the GOP expected to make significant gains in both the House and Senate following the midterm elections, Republicans are “salivating at the prospect” of using the same process used on Bannon in regards to associates of Hillary Clinton.
In particular, those associated with the discredited anti-Trump Steele dossier.
Some have already been indicted over lies in which their association with the Clinton campaign was involved.
In early November, Igor Danchenko, a key player in the Steele dossier, was arrested as part of a probe by Special Counsel John Durham into the origins of the Russian collusion probe.
Danchenko was described by the New York Times as “the primary researcher of the so-called Steele dossier.”
One of the allegations includes Danchenko having made a false statement about being in contact with “a long-time participant in Democratic Party politics.”
The arrest of Igor Danchenko followed the indictment of Michael Sussmann, a lawyer that formerly represented the Democrat National Committee (DNC) and has ties to Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Sussman had provided what was supposed to have shown evidence of secret communications between then-candidate for President Trump and Russia.
The secret electronic channel was alleged to have been between Trump’s company and a Russian bank. The FBI would eventually determine “those concerns had no merit.”
He was indicted on a charge of lying to the FBI when he insisted he wasn’t providing the information on behalf of any client.
The indictment stated that in reality, Sussman knew “he was acting on behalf of specific clients, namely, Tech Executive-1 and the Clinton Campaign.”
Clinton’s lawyer, Mark Elias, paid for the dossier after it was started by a Republican.
“It [the Steele dossier] was research started by a Republican donor during the primary, and then when Trump got the nomination for the Republican Party, the people doing it came to my campaign lawyer [Elias] and said, ‘would you like us to continue it?'” she confessed.
“He said yes,” she added.
As Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations reports, Clinton foreign policy adviser and current National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan put out a statement just before the 2016 election which parroted the information peddled about the Russian bank by Sussman.
The former First Lady shared the same statement on social media.
The Hill explains that Republicans are anxious to move further up the ladder with the Clinton campaign when it comes to the lying and corruption that emanated from the debunked Steele dossier.
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) blasted the Biden administration saying the President “has eviscerated Executive Privilege” through the pursuit of Bannon for contempt and added a warning for one Clinton aide.
“There are a lot of Republicans eager to hear testimony from Ron Klain and Jake Sullivan when we take back the House,” said Jordan.
Perhaps then Hillary’s weekend won’t be quite so restful.
