Liberals Blast Trump for Wasteful Spending – but Look at OBAMA

Donald Trump is president, and once again liberals think that dissent is patriotic – and that deficits matter. As Barack Obama continued to rack up trillion dollar deficits they remained silent, but now that Trump is in office, they’re concerned about fiscal responsibility all of the sudden.

Donald Trump’s border wall has a price tag of $10-$25 billion, which is a lot…. but not compared to Obama’s trillion dollar stimulus package, or trillion dollar healthcare package. Besides, even if we were to assume the maximum cost of the wall at $25 billion, that’s minuscule in comparison to the $113 billion annual cost that illegal immigration imposes on the American economy.

While liberals are outraged that we’re spending money to defend our country, let’s briefly review some of the most INSANE examples of government waste under Obama that they remained silent about.

  1. Government Science: A $1 million project involving monkeys on a treadmill, and another $1.2 million to assess the effects of microgravity on sheep. In another case, Federal bureaucrats spent $150 million on “scientifically unjustifiable” experiments on animals, according to a report from Animal Justice Project USA and the Taxpayers Protection Alliance. Included in the $150 million was a $249,000 grant to the University of Kentucky to determine whether monkey behavior changes when they are injected with cocaine. The National Institute on Drug Abuse also gave $1.6 million to the University of California, Santa Barbara, to see if female rats are more likely to become addicted to cocaine than male rats.
  2. Space Camp: The Department of State spent $250,000 to send 24 Pakistani teenagers to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, so they could practice their English skills, according to the latest “Waste Report” by Kentucky’s Republican Sen. Rand Paul.
  3. Americans are spending $1.7 billion each year to maintain empty federal buildings, the Office of Management and Budget estimates. That’s about $53 per person in the U.S., per year. OMB claims there could be as many as 55,000 vacant or underutilized federal properties in the country.
  4. Taxpayers could fork over as much as $28 billion to clean up the Animas and San Juan rivers after an Environmental Protection Agency contractor spilled millions of gallons of toxic waste under circumstances that remain less than fully understood.
  5. The IRS spent $60,000 on a film parody of “Star Trek” and a film parody of “Gilligan’s Island”.  Internal Revenue Service employees were the actors in the two parodies, so as you can imagine the acting was really bad.
  6. The National Institutes of Health has also spent $2.7 million to study why lesbians have more “vulnerability to hazardous drinking”.
  7. The U.S. government spent $505,000 “to promote specialty hair and beauty products for cats and dogs” in 2012.
  8. The U.S. government spent 27 million dollars to teach Moroccans how to design and make pottery in 2012.
  9. The federal government still sends about 20 million dollars a year to the surviving family members of veterans of World War I, even though World War I ended 94 years ago.
  10.  And lastly, let’s not forget that Obama’s total vacation tab came out to an outstanding $100 million – more than any other president in history.

If liberals are concerned about government waste, it’s great that this is finally a problem they decided to take notice too. Now, how much do you want to bet their concerns disappear entirely next time a president with a (D) at the end of his name is in office?
